Bought my Orchid Grey S8+ for £505 from Amazon Germany on Black Friday.
Holy moly! Talk about a phablet!

In all seriousness tho, it's a great price, so heat.

Although after using Touchwiz for a few months, i really cannot live with it. It infuriates me that Samsung removes certain features that are available on stock android. E.g. the ability to screen mirror to a Chromecast (and no, no one is going to convince me that I can download the Google home app, open it, navigate through 3 swipes/taps and trigger it that way. Why on earth remove it in the first place!? I have 3 Chromecasts in my home and I cast my screen multiple times a day, it's a nuisance having to do that every time).

And Touchwiz. Don't get me started on its speed comparisons. It already loses out on speed tests to similar flagships and will bloat faster than {insert joke here}.

    Rant over. Thank you.

I've had this phone for quite some time now and love it.

Even TouchWiz was not as bad as it use to be although I have replaced this with Nova Launcher as I like all the transition animations and also the option to have the whole screen showing with more rows and colomns of icons on the screen as don't see the point in having a larger screen with the same number of icons on it as a smaller one.
Had pretty much decided on an S8+ as my next phone but I see quite a few people have ended up getting rid of them and moving to cheaper phones.

It’s between this and the OnePlus 5T really. Though I could probably snatch a bargain on an LG G6. Or maybe an iPhone 7 Plus? Too many choices for my liking

Screen mirroring is rubbish (and not the same as) as casting. If you want to cast, just go via the actual app (iPlayer, for example), there is no need to touch the Home app once you've set up a Chromecast.
And if an app doesn't support casting, well, as I've said, mirroring is a poor substitute.

Halifax Clarity would be my suggestion - works for all currencies, not just €. No annual fee
Ordered with Halifax clarity. Great price at £526. Current UK amazon price is £586 so decent saving. This is normally £600 plus though. Added the three deal with cashback so could end up with a double digit gb limit s8+ for £700 quid for 2 years motoring:)
just read some reviews and used translation. now im abit wary. Translated from german. Delivered here was very fast and with the phone itself everything seems okay so far. As in some other reviews, the seal of approval on my phone has been pasted over with another sticker. This "other" sticker is a slightly larger copy of the original seal, but without perforation or the like. Carefully I peeled off the sticker to look at the seal of approval below. The seal of approval was already cut precisely for me. The whole is like a scam in my view, since certain other buyers have not noticed. It could therefore be assumed that my phone is not new. For proof photos see appendix

    No it's not.

    They're 3rd party market sellers.

Perhaps because 1 Bitcoin is worth way more than the price of this mobile?
If you paid with bitcoin you wouldn't use a whole coin. You can use part of a coin
I was going to buy one of these second hand last week, but there was a small black mark on the screen which turned out to be a cluster of dead/faulty pixels. Looking online, it seems that quite a few are having the same problem with their S8's - something to do with the 'Edge' screen. I'll wait a bit and see what happens...

Similar story but the rats in Amazon Germany warehouse is targeting this phone. Got two stolen before it delivered to me and they refuse to refund and do any investigation. Pay by a good service credit card. Take video when you open the package. Mine was stolen (ripped open phone box) with Amazon packaging sealed.

I didnt even see the plus sign so thought this was normal model. also what if you just used revolut to pay, wouldnt that workout to be ~£517.61?

I respect your opinion. But not every app I use supports casting - and I'm referring to apps that don't have alternatives, or at least don't have ones I want to use.

But i disagree with your negativity regarding screen mirroring. I've found it to be even more reliable than in-app casting for some apps.

It's not really ideal to be questioning people's use cases, a lot of the time they're different to your own.

But that doesn't justify the removal of a useful feature. Even if you don't find it useful,

The irony is, Samsung does think it's useful because it does include screen mirroring. Just not a method compatible with Chromecast. Become Samsung pushes it's proprietary services.

Same as mine, Amazon Italy. Though Amazon Italy dispatched another phone immediately for me with no questions asked.

I'm a bit confused by these comments. Are you saying you have ordered this phone twice and it's been stolen twice then the third was opened and not a new phone? Worrying stuff!

They issue a re-delivery after the first time it happened but it happened to me again. I am lucky that American Express refunded me but have to spend a lot of time on calls and email, and it worries me for a long time as getting two empty phone boxes for £500+ is crazy.

not sure but on revolut 585 euros would be approx £517. download mobile app and simply sign up by following the instructions on the screen then rest is simple. just top up, convert to whatever currency and use. I never used it on amazon as I only started using it today and made sepa transfer for free.

Appreciate your sentiments, and you are correct, everyone's uses are different, so fair play.

My issue with mirroring is that it drains your original device's battery, and means that you can't use it while it is mirroring. But, I get that done apps don't cast and that mirroring can still be useful
I've got screen mirroring natively, no app. S8+

It's in the main menu (pull down the notification shade) and then swipe the panel away to the left). It's called smart view. It casts the phone screen to my chrome cast.

Unless we're talking about something else. ?

Steam stopped accepting bitcoin recently - sounds like volatility etc makes it a pain to use to buy stuff. For most users paying in non-euro currencies, using a card is likely to be a lot more convenient (and, with more specialist cards like Revolut, often fee-free).

Of course paying in bitcoin can bring benefits like making purchases harder to trace. I can't see Amazon wanting to make mobile phone purchases harder to trace, though.

All cryptos are very Volatile. But I think the likes of Amazon thought any Bitcoin they accepted would grow in value over time as the growth has been phenomenal recently. I personally don't use crypto to buy things but instead use them as investments

Don't confuse the fee with the exchange rate.

    0% would mean it's free
There's no guarantee that the Halifax has the best rate, just that there's no charge to spend in other currencies

This is normal, samsung seal them, and genuine retailers can open and reseal when adding something like a regional booklet of ts and cs
