This is very similar to the pre-Xmas deals, which included John Lewis price-matches for the S9/Note 9 and £100/£150 cashback respectively from Samsung, so credit goes to those deals.

In a similar vein, fonehouse currently have the 64GB Galaxy S9 (brand-new, sim-free) for £474.99. John Lewis will price match them as they have physical stores.

Currently, Samsung are running a trade-in promotion with up to £200 cashback for an S7 Edge, lower amounts for older Galaxy Sx variants. This is only from certain retailers, similar to the pre-Xmas promotion, and includes John Lewis. Cashback values listed here.

So in total, potential price-match for £474.99, with varying cashback to a lowest potential £224.99 with an iPhone 7 Plus trade-in.

It's not quite as good as the deals available before Xmas and there are cheaper prices on eGlobal etc, but this will be UK spec with full warranty, and therefore might be of interest to some.

Also posted a Note 9 deal for those interested.

To clarify, as with the Note 9 deal:

1) Submit a price-match with John Lewis, to match the fonehouse price. They will match it as fonehouse do have physical stores.

2) Buy the phone from John Lewis and claim the price-match refund. This will mean your total outlay is £474.99 so far.

3) Trade-in an old phone with Samsung to claim further money back, amounts vary according to the phone you're trading in, only relatively recent flagship models count I'm afraid. Maximum trade-in you'll get is £250 (for an iPhone 7 Plus), thus the lowest possible price is £224.99. Link for all the cashback trade-in values for different models again here (scroll down to the table).

Hope that makes it clear.

I'm sure samsung will have these cashback offer back on when s10 is launched as a big incentive since the s10 will be like £1000 lol

Thank you kind sir 🏼 just submitted one on the website for the note 9 £699 🤞🏼
Sorry just seen other post @Jimbo27
Will the trade in work with broken glass on front screen. Touch still works. Or does that come under "crushed" in tandC's thanks.
Yup did this a few days ago, S9 worked out at £330 after trading in the iphone 6 (which has a permanent bright dot behind the screen but samsung said they would accept it as working), not bad!
Sorry in advance for my stupidity but do i order before I submit the price match? And then how do i go about the trade in? Use receipt and via that Samsung website?

You can do it after, but best to do it before incase something goes wrong (like the competitor increases price).
*Prices include £100 reward.
The £100 Reward is included in the values shown below: so they are giving me a £100 trade in for my phone????

Jim so i go on John Lewis website and do what, sorry ain't clued up with this
Just google 'john lewis price match', all the info's there.
If I give a phone worth £200 and get £200 off the price that isn't cashback.
Cashback is when you buy something and you get an amount credited to you afterwards as an incentive for buying the item.

Can you clarify where the true cashback is for this deal as I'm confused!

Note 9 is £699 not £474.99
I'd be careful buying any Samsung Galaxy phones, I don't think I will after my s9. The glass cover of back camera shattered on mine without anything in my pocket with phone and has on plenty others too. Samsung looking for me to shell out £50 for initial repair, could be more, waterproofness gonzo

What's the blue card app?
If I pick up a second hand device from CEX or similar, can anyone tell me which would deliver the most gain (if any) according to Samsung's trade in table?
This seems interesting but my s7 edge is still working great! Not a scratch on it too...
Is the s9 really much of an upgrade on the s7 edge?
How long did it take to hear back from John Lewis? I've just submitted my price match
Would love to go for this deal but my S7 Edge has cracked screen and dead pixel strip along the bottom so would only get £140 for it meaning the S9 still £334
available from ebuyer for £466.98

Not really. If your S7 Edge works well for you, I'd be tempted to keep it. I've had an S8 Plus for about 18 months, and in no way shape or form I'm tempted to upgrade to any latest greatest model as it works fine

I agree. Flagship models are released so frequently that sometimes the difference is marginal. Not a hard and fast rule but worth asking what each change will really do for you in a practical sense

I have the same phone .. I really want to upgrade but am having a hard time justifying it! Espec. As the s7 edge is still performing well with all/any apps I throw at it
Best was £399 when they had the cash back

Keep the S7 !!! The differences in functionality these days between newer and older models is marginal!!! Spend the money you saved on a holiday or something. You'll enjoy it more
Yeah heat for the work alone that's went into this deal!
My S7 edge has cracked screen, but it's functioning well. What would be the amount I get if i trade in with cracked screen?

What's the blue card app?

Whoops, meant "Blue light card" app.
Question on price match. I got a price match at JL but decided to change the colour and ordered a Coral blue instead. Does that make a difference. The reference numbers are slightly different, but the price is still the same.
