This is very similar to the pre-Xmas deals, which included John Lewis price-matches for the S9/Note 9 and £100/£150 cashback respectively from Samsung, so credit goes to those deals.

In a similar vein, fonehouse currently have the 64GB Galaxy S9 (brand-new, sim-free) for £474.99. John Lewis will price match them as they have physical stores.

Currently, Samsung are running a trade-in promotion with up to £200 cashback for an S7 Edge, lower amounts for older Galaxy Sx variants. This is only from certain retailers, similar to the pre-Xmas promotion, and includes John Lewis. Cashback values listed here.

So in total, potential price-match for £474.99, with varying cashback to a lowest potential £224.99 with an iPhone 7 Plus trade-in.

It's not quite as good as the deals available before Xmas and there are cheaper prices on eGlobal etc, but this will be UK spec with full warranty, and therefore might be of interest to some.

Also posted a Note 9 deal for those interested.

To clarify, as with the Note 9 deal:

1) Submit a price-match with John Lewis, to match the fonehouse price. They will match it as fonehouse do have physical stores.

2) Buy the phone from John Lewis and claim the price-match refund. This will mean your total outlay is £474.99 so far.

3) Trade-in an old phone with Samsung to claim further money back, amounts vary according to the phone you're trading in, only relatively recent flagship models count I'm afraid. Maximum trade-in you'll get is £250 (for an iPhone 7 Plus), thus the lowest possible price is £224.99. Link for all the cashback trade-in values for different models again here (scroll down to the table).

Hope that makes it clear.

The glass cover of back camera shattered on mine without anything in my pocket with phone and has on plenty others too. Samsung looking for me to shell out £50 for initial repair, could be more, waterproofness gonzo

Yes S9 wife's cracked in the corner after 2 weeks without reason whilst in a case.
£27.50 repair via Nationwide (£25 + £2.50 P&P) flex account.

Samsung would never repair any fault now a they will say "physical damage".

Whoops, meant "Blue light card" app.

I work for the NHS I will apply for the blue light card today. Would you mind telling me how you got that price? Is it a link on the blue light page or is it a code you type in on checkout
JL have priced match it for me,how do you get the trade in with samsung
My galaxy s7 is also running relatively ok and I'm holding out for a 5g phone either 2019 or 2020. That being said is it worth installing a custom rom on a s7 to speed it up or make it more efficient?

My battery has lost 25% capacity over 2 years and sometimes it's a little sluggish even with bloatware disabled.

Thanks
Amazing really, now these basic s9's are still selling for so much money, compared to say the much cheaper, but much better Mi Mix 2s and the like!!

Does that make a difference. The reference numbers are slightly different, but the price is still the same.

What a concidence, lol. I put the code for black too but wanted coral blue instead. Didn't want to risk losing refund from JL so went for the black instead.

Via the app, you dont actually need a card. Just register on the app, and the price is direct via the Samsung link. The card is only needed for a few of the offers on there, like the EE one.

Take it you have not seen or had a Mi Mix 2s then..

Dual lens camera - check
IPS all angle screen - check
Speakers? Dual output, 3rd highest DB ringing, no distorting - check
Glass 4 or 5 - erh.. sure that makes a difference when you drop your phone - check
Chin - stops you having to smear the bottom of your phone!
Regular updates - the mi mix 2s is already on Feb Android 9 Pieface!

The point i was making IS there are so many better phones, that have flagship specs, than the s9 at THIS money!!

As I thought, you have not had one.. I was basing my facts on I have had both, I still have the Mi Mix 2s as one of a few daily drivers, the S9 and the S9+ have both been moved on.. it is not laughable as the features I have pointed out are on a £250+ ish handset, that is better VS the price of these at £500, this is a good deal if you want one.. it is NOT the dual sim variant and again.. the Mi Mix 2s trumps it on that front as well
tommol22 h, 34 m ago

*Prices include £100 reward.

I was thinking "Wow an extra £100 on top of the trade in price!" I read through most of the terms and that's how it comes across.
I know this wasn't mentioned in the original post but how sneaky are they! Lol Thanks for pointing that out!

My S7 just has a dodgy battery but might upgrade as don't like the cut out hole in the S10.

Hopefully notches and holes will be gone by the time the s14 comes out!

Is the s9 really much of an upgrade on the s7 edge?

I had an S7 edge until December, and bought the S9 at that time given the promotional price (O2 deal, £375 for the phone unlocked). I sold the S7 edge for £200, so update only cost me £175. I don't think I would have upgraded if the price had been higher.

The S9 is surely much quicker, and has just received the very nice Android Pie update. The screen is also larger, with the phone size staying the same.

In term of camera quality, the S9 performs better in low light, but the S7 was already taking very nice pictures otherwise.

Battery life on my S7 edge had started to drop after 18 months, the optical stabiliser was playing up occasionally, and warranty was coming to an end, so it was time for a change anyway...

This is a really good deal and it works.

I've just bought an S9 from John Lewis.

The Samsung trade in deal is genuine but limited to a small number of authorised retailers inc John Lewis.

The fonehouse price match is essential to pull JL price down.

JL staff in store were amazed at fonehouse price and had to double check. They have a list of retailers they will price match with and fonehouse was on it.

So S9 for £474.99.

Just gone through Samsung Trade in promo for an S6.

OK some hoops to go through with IMEI codes but that all worked - £148 for an S6..

Interestingly Samsung had the new S9 as supplied to John Lewis, so you can't claim for an S9 that was not bought from authorised dealer.

Buying from eBuyer/amazon warehouse etc will NOT enable you to make a Trade in.

So short wait for £148 but I've got an S9 for £326.99.

I'd say that was hot provided you don't hate S9s but what else can you get for £327 that has full warranty etc?

Where did you sell it?
How do you get the trade in? Once you get the S9, do you need to activate it first and then enter IMEI of S9 on Samsung website? Thanks.
