Order the x4 32gbS9 any colour on the 12 month £36 per month contract for an upfront payment of £99£379,
Then when you receive the SIM and phone, give o2 a call within the 14 day cooling off period and cancel the sim only part of the deal.

For me they said they will cancel and didn't. Put a black mark on my credit history and got rejected for a remortgage. So not worth it just for a phone tbh

what if O2 rejects cancellation request?

Why black mark on credit history?
yep too much of risk for cancellation and indeed does leave a
black mark on your credit history. So like above comment from zzak, not worth the punt.
Have you done this trick with this phone through Carphone Warehouse and it has worked ?
surely the phone will have to be returned as youve just paid an upfront fee and not purchased the phone
Absolute rubbish this is, you cannot cancel the sim without returning the handset etc in " unused" condition....
If you dont then
1) blacklisted handset = useless
2) credit history destroyed
3) baliffs attend house and take you stuff
4)no more credit for at least 6 years
what twaddle this is!

No black mark on my credit file. Did you cancel the direct debit? I had a major faff because they took money and it took forever to get it back, but left the DD in place just in case.
Interesting. You have a 14 day cooling off period so it could work. However o2 could also ask for the phone back and provide a full refund of all charges

The cooling off period is standard credit agreement fayre, you cannot just apply for a 12 month phone deal and then cancel it and walk away with the handset etc, who writes this twaddle......

And before you all give me grief, go try it and watch what happens, this is a dangerous and potentially life changing ( for the worse ) deal, i would have thought the Mods would have removed it, its bad advice at best and dangerous at worst!
Long process most likely they will want the phone back an send you a refund for the phone.
I do not post these deals anymore, just to make this clear!

Haven't voted, as that would be hypocritical!

you will damage your credit raiting. not worth at all.
I had bought an iphone using this process last year or so. Had phoned o2 to cancel the sim part of the contract and paid them all the money for the phone. No hassle, no bailiff etc.
Be careful of O2. I did this a few years ago for an S7 and O2 cancelled the contract but billed be for the full airtime. I had to pay it and wait for a refund otherwise my credit rating would have been badly affecte. Took months to get my money back as apparently the system wouldn't put it through. Took a call to trading standards and a letter to O2 to get my money back.

Haha. Its a crazy low price if it works.
It's a 12 month contract.
I have done this before but through o2 themselves where you can see the phone and air time separate it worked fine although o2 did bill me the entire airtime bill but t took one phone call to sort they out , the only thing putting me off this is it’s through Carphone Warehouse and it’s not clear the phone and airtime is separate

Yep, but too risky so not worth it. I asked about this on the CPW chat and 'Timothy' told me that it's a 12 month phone contract and that the network will know that it's a phone contract and not a sim only. When I asked why it isn't advertised like that, the reply I got was a very defensive one where he repeatedly said 'it's not false advertisement' when I never said that it was

Haha, the times I've had live chat conversations with cpw, where one has given me one answer, and another has told me something completely different is unbelievable.

Are people getting confused with o2 refresh-where you pay for airtime separate to handset cost?? Isnt that direct only with o2, and this is different?

Took me 18 months to get them to delete the record when they did it to me for a similar deal. Had to get the financial ombudsman involved before they budged on their mistake

EDIT: I haven't checked the deal because I don't need a phone, I've gone off the details in the op's post, but my detail is correct, if this is a 12 PHONE CONTACT, if you cancel, you return the equipment too, otherwise, read on...

On a normal 12/24 month contract yes, but on a SIM ONLY deal, where carphone discount a SIM FREE handset that you buy AT THE SAME TIME, this doesn't mean they are connected so you CAN cancel the sim only and keep the phone

As for black marks on your credit file, that happens when you miss payments, if you cancel your direct debit and O2 (or any other company) screws up and tries to take a bill that goes against you even if it isn't your fault

I left my direct debit in place and simply got it refunded once they fixed their error, and if you can't afford a months direct debit to go out in error, don't spend £400 on a phone using a bit of a loop hole just because the deal is good

Not true in this case

Go for it but its your funeral, this is a total load of rubbish, its idiocy to try this and expect to get away with it but if your that convinced then go for it and try it on with them, you wont get what you want i double guarantee it....and even if you do get anywhere with it they will block the handset for none payment....its a no win scenario!

Edited my long post and deleted my other post afterwards, there's nothing to suggest the sim is SIM only with a SIM free phone, I'm with you on this one
