Excellent price for this tablet. Brown version was posted a couple of days ago but white is now available to order.

"Usually dispatched in 1-3 weeks".

I've linked directly to sellers so Amazon should be the first option at £119.99.

Dont forget £5 off a £40 spend code when paying by Amex:

Nice one, same price as currys but no need to claim cashback, joint Christmas present for the inlaws sorted!

Finally a galaxy tablet at a great price in stock!!

Great price, sadly a poor tablet. This is from someone who seriously considered getting one before the price drop. A bit of research showed it would be poor value compared to other tablets; some in the same price range and some slightly more expensive.

You can pick up a 16GB Nexus 7 (2012 model) for the same price at Carphone Warehouse. Nexus is a better tablet IMO, but advantage of the Galaxy Tab is the Micro-SD

For £60 more, the 2013 nexus 7 is my choice i think. The screen is stunning!

Sadly this is true also in my case, I just returned my tab ,,, web browsing was extremely slow !! on google searches I had to wait till all links were loaded before any links would work , soooooooo frustrating !!!

I think if your going to get a tablet , then get the best IPAD !!

Trouble with android is you seem to need a quad core just for it to run smoothly. Pretty ridiculous really

I have just bought this tablet after looking at this, the asus memo pad and the nexus. I agree that the nexus is overall the best one. The screen is amazing but I would only be able to get the 16gb in my price range and it has no sd slot. on paper the memo pad should have been better than the galaxy, quad processor and good spec but the screen just looked so dull. I spotted the galaxy and thought screen looked much crisper and I can increase my storage so I went for the galaxy. its fine for me I'm very pleased. very surprised at the memo pad considering its the same people who made the nexus!

Is there a 10" version?

when you say the memo pad hd screen looked dull, was the brightness set really low? samsung seem to have their demos with the brightness at its highest, so it looks crisper /brighter!

looking at buying 2 pink memo pads for christmas, as the specs look good for the price, but haven't seen them in currys / pcworld yet.

there is a 8 inch & 10 inch version

Having had this, the nexus 7 and the playbook, I'd say do for an iPad. Not an android snob as my phone is android - but for web browsing, YouTube, watching movies nothing beats the iPad. The screen is phenomenal and the range of apps...

Heat added though as its a good price for this if you want it

Question for the experts

I've not long purchased one of these for my 4 year old for Christmas
I'm being told by people that for a 4 year old the tesco hudl is much better. Chunkier, easier to use etc.

I'm none the wiser.
I don't really want to spend more than what the galaxy cost- she is only 4 after all.

Sorry to go off track.
Heat added- better price than what I paid.

nexus 7 beats this hands down
wireless charging
with a qi charger does it for me

Asus memo pad HD 7.0 16GB is sold at Currys for £119 (after cashback), and comes with mirosd slot for additional storage. I have both Galaxy tab 3 and memo pad HD myself and I will definitely recommend you to go for the latter if you have a tight budget.

Try and get a 10 inch tablet for under 5's. There are load of free drawing/colouring/painting apps which work a bit better on the larger tablets (even with small fingers!)

My 3 yr old daughter gets to use a Galaxy tab 10.1 which has been dropped more time than I can remember and still works fine. It is a hand-me-down so I won't worry too much if it does take one fall too many and becomes a brick.

Heat for the deal.

I got a Cube u39gt which is a 9" tablet for roughly the same price though. Totally destroys this spec-wise. Rooted it and it can match the latest iPad in terms of performance.

CPU: Rockchip 3188 1.8 ghz Quad Core
GPU: Mali 400 MP
RAM: 2GB
ROM: 16GB
Res: 1920 x 1080
SD Card Expansion up to 32gb. (Possibly 64 gb, haven't tested it out yet)
Camera: Front 2.0 Megapixel; Back Camera 5.0 AF with flashlight
Bluetooth 4.0
10 point touch screen.
HDMI output

Antutu score: 14628

Looks very sleek to boot. My only gripe is that the speakers are only one one side, so no true stereo. All things considered, still an awesome deal at that price. Came with Google PlayStore and Skype works perfectly fine too.

So for all those recommending an iPad over this .... can you show me where I can get one for £120 please? (I have an iPad Mini and a Note 10.1. I actually prefer the Note in use, but the form factor of the iPad)

Good price for a decent tablet. Not top-of-the-line kit (obviously, at this price) but perfectly usable. Heat.

Oh, and the guy asking about suitability for kids .... this should be fine. Samsung tabs are well enough made that it won't fall apart as long as they don't fling it down the stairs or something. Friend got his daughter (6 at the time I think?) an older 7" Galaxy Tab a year or so ago and it's coped just fine. Have a look on Google Play for parental control software as there is nothing built into the OS. (Or there wasn't on the older models anyway ...)

I've got an old Motorola Xoom, and it certainly seems to view all of the above without flaw. There's simply no need to spend £400 on an iPad to view the web etc.

^
Thank you. Will have a look round.
She originally asked for an iPod touch but i think that's way too small to play games.

From the statement you made does'nt sound to me like you did any thinking at all. What about bduget considerations, intended usage, possible need to have USB flexbility to load files onto and off from the tablet etc...

My daughter returned it to Currys, so so slow......

It is quite reflective, but the image quality is totally fine - where I view it it's a non issue.

I'm sure it's just lovely, but it's not worth the premium charged over the competition.

On paper tab2 and tab3 may look poor. In actual life it beats anything in price range. Why? Screen doesnt get scratched and internal charging plug doesnt brake. I swapped 3 tablets until I bought samsung tab2, all of the old ones more powerful, but sadly all broken now. Samsung tab2 still looks and works like the first day after a year of use.
So stop reading specs and ask people who used the damned things.

At the end of the day, as you say it's not about the spec, it's about personal experience and personal choice. I played around with a Tab 2, Tab 3, Nexus 2012 and Nexus 2013 (all 7"). In terms of performance Tab 2 and 3 were way behind the Nexus. The displays were simply miles apart. Admittedly Nexus 2013 is significantly more expensive right now than the Tab 2 but Nexus 2012 is cheaper.

I paid a bit more and got the Nexus 2013 but I would have been just as happy with the Nexus 2012 over the Tab 2 or 3.

I cannot comment on the charging plug issue but the screen issue is not one I have with the Nexus.

I'm with you!!! Well said.

After speaking to my nephew this afternoon, he confirmed that he would like a Tab 3, as he already has a Galaxy phone and is familiar with Jellybean.
I was lucky, as there was only 1 left in stock at £119. I'm a Prime customer so I used the 1-click order option.
I was pretty cheesed off tonight to have received a despatch email from Amazon for £139.99. The tab is coming from a 3rd party seller but being forfilled by Amazon.
I've already contacted Amazon about this issue, and expect a reply within the next 12 hours.
If you want one of these for £119.99, the despatch time is now 'between 2 and 5 weeks'.
