Here we go again, i think a few people got burnt last time pricing matching John Lewis and tablets because they thought they had a spotted a deal that was a bit too good.

Slowly.

The processor isn't really up to scratch in these. And the screen is fairly average compared to the newer Nexus as well.

I'd put the Nexus, Note 8.0 and iPad Mini all ahead of this. More than likely a few others as well. But it is cheap at £129 I suppose ...

I wouldn't trust John Lewis to match my socks after their last debacle with this tab.

By the way, nice find op!

How???????

Sorry to be repeating myself but THIS-IS-NOT-WORTH-IT. Overpriced average tablet.

this is a great tablet. I have one and love it. Build quality, screen, resolution, battery life, and performance (even has MicroSD slot!!!!) are brilliant. And for £129 makes it a true bargain. Get one before they are sold out! X)

care to suggest an alternative thats better and worth it for around the same price please...

Have this tablet myself and it runs very well. I wouldn't pay much attention to what people say about the screen, from personal experience it is very clear.

It's is free home delivery as well

That's funny. I'm struggling to think of a better tablet for the money. I'd say it probably isn't worth more than £150 because then you're getting into range of 'good deal' prices on the LG G Pads, but for £130 it's hard to beat.

I just bought the 10.1 tab for £165.Had some e-vouchers to bring it to that price.X)

How does this tablet compare with the Nexus?

I have the original Nexus 7 (so can't comment on the new Nexus 7) and one of these Samsung 8" tablets.

Clearly, in terms of hardware the Nexus 7 will be better, but often (but not always) the hardware difference is just numbers. What really matters is user experience.

If I could only have one of these I would certainly go for the Samsung. The difference in screen size is really noticeable and I find the colour are richer on the Samsung. The Samsung has an SD slot so it can be loaded with lots of songs and video. I simply could not get my Nexus to work with Chromecast (even though I download the update etc) while the Samsung worked first time. And finally the Samsung has an infrared port which means it can be used as a remote control.

Got one of these and prefer it over my Ipad 3. Screen is great although not IPS. For the price it's a no brainer.

This is worth it, you can pay £100 for something of doubtful parentage, I have purchased one was happy to pay the price of £199 that was on offer in the store last week, missed the previous offer with the £60 voucher.
The brucey bonus was I had £20 of club card vouchers which I had lost or forgotten about so net result £107 to me.
I had this recommended to me by a friend who is a gadget fanatic he has ditched his iPad for this very same tablet, the expandable storage is the winner

Can you watch live tv on one of these? If you can how is it done?

I think if u price match with currys or pc world you get a further £3 off so cheapest all round.

I got one of these wee while back from Asda for £129 and I am really pleased with it. The 8 inch screen is just perfect to me, I found my previous 7 inch tab 2 to small and I felt the 10 inch was to big. Also the 10 inch does not do screen mirroring which is a fantastic function so again, well pleased. I aint a spec snob, I just use it and am well pleased with it. As for the 2 year guarantee with john lewis, the tablet comes with a 2 year Samsung warranty. Finally, to watch live TV on it I use TV catchup app for all the freeview channels.

The review sites have not been that positive, probably due to the very high original retail price. However, the user reviews and there are a lot of them all over the internet are very positive.
Given the slick design, decent display and other benefits such as long battery life, HDMI and infrared £129 for this 8" tablet is excellent value. Also factor in that the Tab 3 is also due the Kitkat update.

Agree...for £129 its brilliant at £250 rrp then not so good..

I'm very pleased with it...just looking for a cheap mhl cable now

I had a Tab2 10.1 which ran well but lagged every so often, then Samsung released a firmware update and ruined it.

The Tab3 8.0 runs far smoother, impressive screen (with typical bright Samsung colours)...just a warning, check on forums if any future Android updates slows it to a crawl (I suspect this is intentional to force upgrades!).

Thanks just got one, went for black!

Excellent tablet, at £129 its a no brainer
