It's great that we are now paying tax to Germany as HUKD have blocked the UK Amazon. Perhaps they should rename to HDED (DE=DEutschland)

You work for amazon UK? Amazon does not pay tax anywhere in the world so why do you care?

if I buy of. es or. de does the tablet come with German or Spanish is the set up language

It probably will come in their language and not English. but you can change it easily.

When you buy a tablet from Amazon in the UK you pay VAT at 20%, that 20% is paid to the government. The bit they avoid like most large companies is taxon the profit. When you buy from Amazon in Germany you pay 19% VAT ( I presume this goes to Germany ), it certainly doesn't go to pay for UK services. I care as I live in the UK.

Some of the things are significantly cheaper on Amazon.de than .co.uk, good job that the menu system is the same as in English. Also good to learn a bit of German.

Recently I started to think that 20% VAT means effectively that if I had 5 children , one of them would have to spend full time to govern and to service the other 4 children doing productive work in the same ratio of 20% to 80%. Then I wondered if that child had enough to do when the other four are out working to earn the dosh. Then when I add the other taxes like fuel duty, air transport premium ... and the other 20 types of taxes then it is more like 2.0 to 2.5 children doing governance and social services for the other 2 to 2.5 children working to earn the dosh. It all sounds very excessive to me in principle.
