I think the OP is aiming for the ClubCard vouchers as you get a fair amount back in vouchers.

Has to be scorching hot if i understand correctly and you only have to pay £234.50 in vouchers?
But then again i really fail to see the point of these tablet PCs for personal use... so probably limited appeal.

Voted hot.

I await the usual influx of 'the ipad is better' posts, those seem to appear in any/all non-ipad tablet deals.

I especially love 'the ipad has double the size screen' posts.

What are you on about o.O?

You dont even state what size memory this includes. Either way, the iPad does present better value for money at present.

Also i really dont understand the rear facing camera, no one needs it.

I am not voting I don't think is either hot or cold. Personally if I could spend this amount on a tablet I would always choose an ipad (if could afford it)

This is a nice tablet, but it's way overpriced. I'm no fan of Apple products, but it makes the iPad seem like value for money. I'm going to wait another few months and see what else comes out, there seems to be a few sitting in the wings.

to everyone going on about the ipad - this is 3G and can make phone calls. The price is only comparable with the ipad WIFI.

How does the voucher thing works?

Specifically mentions it can be used on tablet PCs, and when you click through to that department this item is one of the first things to pop up (can also be spent on lots of other things). Really can't understand why this isnt hotter. Maybe it's the lack of detail on this voucher exchange thing in the OP

Edit:
Based on the later posts it seems like i might have misjudged how hard it is to accumulate clubcard vouchers. My bad.

Right - but I only received £15 pounds worth of vouchers the other day so with exchange I have £30.....thats not gonna be anywhere near the £234.50.

just post everything in tesco and then use the vouchers, getting like very then!!!!!!

Very what? !!!

i too dont understand how the op has come to that amout in vouchers can someone pls explain

can someone explain this please...

Personally I think the thing is grossly overpriced to start with, for what it is.
Wouldn't pay HALF what they're wanting. SixTEEN gb ???
Haven't voted either way.

Wait for iPad 2 in the new year.....jan/Feb launch.... Or if android fan go for this

The first (iPad better) is subjective. The second (iPad has almost double the screen real estate) is a factual statement. You love facts I take it?

You collect Tesco points which come through in vouchers at a quarterly point in the year. If you receive £10 in vouchers you can either...

1. Spend in store if you are a dufus and want to get £10 in value to buy some groceries

2. Exchange them by typing in the code on each voucher for 3 times their value to spend on a range of rewards (it's actually 4 x their value until December 6th 2010 when Tesco are changing it.) the rewards are with a range of partners (Virgin Holidays, Blockbuster, Cafe Rouge, magazine subscriptions...etc - look at tesco.com/clu…ls/ for more info

3. You can (for a limited time) exchange them for twice their value at through the Clubcard Big exchange scheme to spend on Wine, Tesco Direct or Tesco Clothing. You have to type in the codes and they'll e-mail you within 48 hrs with unique codes you can then spend on SPECIFIC DEPARTMENTS within tesco direct. You cannot use it for everything.

The OP states that it would only be £240 in vouchers because you could exchange these for double their value and get £480 to spend on your galaxy tablet.

To collect £240 using normal methods would mean you would have spent £12,000 in Tesco (presuming they continue to run the double points promo) so it sounds very difficult to do....

... however I collected more than £250 in this quarter alone and spent NOWHERE NEAR £12,000 (more like £1200 - £100 per week for my shop roughly) as I follow the tips on paidtoshop.co.uk - which is a brilliant website.

Tesco changing the value of deals from 4x to 3x means the Clubcard exchange is not a bad way to use your points, but personally until December 6th I'd always use mine on deals still.

Ok, I'm no advocate of the iPad or anything, but Samsung are in dreamland if they think they can price their iPad-a-like the same as the real thing.

I've not used either of these devices, but knowing the kind of tech Apple builds, and knowing the kind of tech Samsung normally build, Samsung are having a giraffe.

See hotukdeals.com/dea…123 You get £10 of clubcard vouchers in the post you can exchange them for vouchers worth £20 to spend at Tesco or Tesco Direct on certain items.

My bad, I missed shakmark's more detailed post.

I think the £234 is reasonable without vouchers, but £469 is very overpriced, and the android is not made for tablets while the apple one is made for the Ipad.

My thoughts exactly. iPad are ludicrously overpriced. Thats the way Apple do things. But they ARE better. The MacBooks are, quite literally, three times better than laptops.
This is AT LEAST double the price it should be.
Wouldn't pay £200 for it.
SERIOUSLY.

why pay ipad prices for a non ipad????

Most people didn't see the value of PVR's when they first came out either.

Tablet PC's are perfect for occasional use. I have an iPad for surfing in the lounge. It's instant-on, no need to patch them, virus check them and has a good battery life so I don't need to sit with a power cable plugged in.

They are not a PC/laptop replacement.

As for the Galaxy tab. I remain unconvinced that the 7" screen size is suitable as a home tablet and unless you have a business need, I can't see why you'd want to take it out with you. You'd look a right knob walking down the high street trying to surf on it. Plus you may as well plaster "Mug me" on your forehead.

I guess if you are desperate for Flash support and going to take it out then the Samsung would suit. For most I suspect the ipad or Advent Vega/Archos 101 (when they arrive) would be a better bet.

Most people wil have used an iPad and a iPhone. The Galaxy S series is a choice and by the look of things is getting quite popular. Apple doesn't need hundreds of people advertising it's products for them and yet here you are! This is a Galaxy Tab deal so if people wanted an iPad I guess they would elsewhere right now!

I just don't see it with these pads, way expensive with very little memory. Netbooks at the moment are much better value. Not voted either way.

Since when is size of a display screen quoted as the actual physical area? For as long as I can remember, TVs and monitors are sized by the diagonal width between two opposing corners.

But I guess if you want to score some sort of childish point, you could decide to start talking in terms of square inches or whatever.

Personally, I think a 7" 16:9 form factor is much more handy than a 9.7" 4:3 factor (YMMV) but I wouldn't pay those sorts of prices for either the Samsung or an iPad. This sort of tech should be no more than £300 max for a fully loaded model closer to £200 for a basic one.

I think you amass the tesco points if you have a tesco credit card too. Pretty sure my mum has quite a lot.

You don't need to have £234.50 in vouchers you can use any vouchers for double there value off this product for example say you had £50 in vouchers then it would be £469 - £100 you redeem with vouchers so would cost you £369 and your £50 voucher
