Good price, but 2GB RAM is putting me off
PLEASE READ

Please don't bash me, I know what people are like here, this is just my opinion. I bought this a few months ago as it was £160 and I needed a tablet for HD Netflix/Amazon and a tablet for general use. I thought the 2gb would suffice and the low specs would be OK for browsing. How wrong I was. It lags for almost everything and cannot even handle multi windows. It is PAINFULLY slow and underpowered. Shame on Samsung. 2gb RAM is a joke, you can play very light games with no problems as well as YouTube and Netflix etc but make sure no other apps are open. Typing would lag on browser as would scrolling at times. I tried typing on a word document, also slow and laggy. No fast charging either so takes a very long time to charge (at least 5-6 hours). Screen is OK for the price. I would go for a similarly priced iPad Mini or push to £200. I was very disappointed and I sold mine. Just a heads up.

Why do tablets always only have 2gb ram?

I know... The Huawei mate 5 lite at argos has 4gb and play store
Predikuesi02/08/2020 10:05

What's the largest SD card this will take?

A micro one. Lol. But I think it's 512 normally

Bargain, shame I already bought the fire 10!
Great tablet. Just upgraded to Android 10. Heat
Great price. Paid £169 in June and thought that was good.

I was concerned to, I purchased this tablet last year as decided to go for build quality rather than higher spec (not falling for that again) and have been happy ever since. I'm a casual user, so don't use it for intense work use or as a laptop replacement.
Is the 2gb ram in something like this for purely media use I.e. nowtv/Netflix/prime etc? I’m weighing up the differences between something like this and a kindle 10 but tablets are all baffling, especially with longevity! Would be exclusively used for the above and unlikely anything else at all. Thanks!
My old Tab S has 3gb of ram , 2gb not good

I've got the Now TV app running on my just fine. Been watching the live sports streams on it. Also have user Prime Video app on too. Just had the android 10 and Samsung One UI 2 update. No problems with performance (but I'm not gaming on it). Use it as a second screen on my laptop (using TwoMon app).

The strange thing is that the 2018 tab a had 3gb and better screen while this has only 2gb. Still got the 2018 one for media use.
Depends on the processor as well. The new fire hd 10 has 2 gig of ram but a faster processor. Nips along quite happily

Takes ages to charge and keyboard doesnt always come onscreen. Apart from that great tablet
Hot! Even I don't really want a 2GB tablet. It seems you always have to comprilomise on something when getting a tablet, but this has good built quality, should receive updates and 2GB may suit some. I think this is one of the best prices I came across on this.
Thinking about this to replace my sons 1st gen ipad Air. He mainly uses games on CBBC website and Minecraft.
Thanks! Been waiting on this to come up on offer - bought to replace an aging iPad and just to stream from Plex so will do me! Any recommendations on a case for it - I see the ‘official’ Samsung black on on Amazon for around £22...

Youll notice the screen difference. Whilst this is 10.1 compared to 9.7, its a lot narrower and seems smaller. Was going to do the same (for my lad) untill i compared. Got the 2018 10.5 one which is bigger and a lot better sound.

The bit about surrounding yourself in dolby atmos is laughable, how do they get away with such claims

Actually yes sorry I think you are right!
I just bought this last night when the price dropped again. Luckily I saw this today and have even able to cancel. Thanks monkeyboy1982 :-)
2gb puts me off too. At this price should be 3gb.
Got this last year for £159 with case and sd card runs fine with Prime,Netflix,Chrome,Youtube,Gmail,Plex,Whatsapp,Telegram all open on it.
No interest in games so don't how it would get on with them.

The iPad is 4;3, this is 16:10. 4;3 is better for reading & browsing, 16:9/10 is better for video. Games adapt well to either.

Paid £150 on bf from currys with a free case and 64gb sd card
Even with the 2 GB RAM, this tablet is absolutely fine for casual browsing, streaming apps like BBC iPlayer, Netflix, etc.
Just bought. Thanks.
Bought for £181 back in July through amazon prime as a gift with instalment plan. Gutted price has dropped so much but heated added. Great price. Great tablet.

It's for when you are using your headphones, or your amplified speakers via Bluetooth.

Stick with the Amazon Fire 10, for media usage the speakers are better positioned. It's quite loud and you get stereo effects.

The speakers on the TAB A are side firing. It's a poor design. Both are at the bottom edge, so you only get one sided sound.

If you use it for media, don't pay more for one with 3GB RAM, this will do. As the Fire 10 is/was £104, I think that's a better deal for you, even I particularly prefer Android tablets. Have a look at Huawei T5, if you find it at a reasonable price, that one is good as a media player too.
Looking to buy a tablet, is it worth me going for a ipad of a android tablet like this?

What are you going to be using it for primarily?

And if the answer is PUBG - definitely an iPad.
