details:

Slim, modern design looks great and fits into any situation

- Up to 13 hours of usage with loads of storage

- Same-screen multitasking and easy content sharing

- Kids Mode makes the Tab A ideal for family computing

Great everyday features

Designed for every day and everyone in your family, the Galaxy Tab A has a beautiful 10.1” screen, which is the ideal size for watching films, playing games and editing documents. Take your reading and browsing to the next level with the 4:3 aspect ratio screen that makes every page look great.

Despite the generous screen size, the Tab A is slim, light and easy to carry with you wherever you go with a discrete black finish that fits into any situation.

Great battery life with expandable storage

Making sure you can play games, browse online and catch up with your favourite shows for hours, the Galaxy Tab A keeps you powered for as long possible. With a powerful octa-core processor and the latest Android operating system, the Tab A is optimised so that you can get the most out of every app and game.

If 16 GB isn't enough storage for all your media, the microSD card slot lets you expand up to a huge 200 GB – enough to save 160 films or 64,000 photos.

Sync all your devices

Flipping between two apps is a thing of the past with Samsung's advanced multitasking. You can watch a film and monitor social media at the same time, or work between two documents quickly and efficiently.

Share content, images and data easily between the Tab A and your smartphone or computer using Samsung SideSync, which lets you share files and mirror content easily. Send a photo from your phone to your tablet or quickly open a website URL on your computer from the Tab A.

And using Quick Connect, you can use your Galaxy Tab A as a remote control for any Samsung Smart TV and even finish watching a film on the tablet if you need to leave the room.

Kids Mode

The Tab A is ideal for younger users thanks to Kids Mode. Along with a colourful and engaging layout, it allows you to limit what your little ones access, with content that will keep children entertained for hours.

Applications are simplified, you can access activity reports and you limit playtime as well as set up multiple accounts for all each child. They won't be able access unsuitable content, your documents or anything you don't want them to see for complete peace-of-mind.

It is a very good option unless you are wanting a premium frame build tablet with high end GPU but then you are talking at least £300. Nothing really comparable within its price range with a full HD display and being a recent released model comes with Marshmallow as standard and I would think within its life expectancy to see it get upgraded to Nougat OS.

Main thing to consider though is whether you like the 16:10 framing, compared to the newer iPads and Samsung Galaxy S2 of 4:3 some people prefer this for web browsing and digital magazine reading. 16:10 framing is better for video content and graphic novels.

Thanks for posting but been this same price over the Christmas period.

I read on another deal couple weeks back this was cheaper Black Friday and also very cheap sometime last year. Around £120-£140 if I remember correct. (Someone posted a price chart and it was shown as the lowest it's been).

I'm on Lenovo a10-70 which is a good alternative and cheaper but not getting much support and sometimes has wireless issues....

I want to buy this Samsung as late gift for someone but I'm still waiting for it to go lower. Don't think it's going to happen.

Impossible that it was cheaper last year as this tablet was not released last year (the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 was) It was £159 over Black Friday....personally I ordered from Very, new account order with £25 discount code so with delivery got it for £154.99..personally for the price I cannot see a better tablet that is full HD with 15 hours battery life.

That makes sense I must of misread the comment at the time. Duh lol.

£154.99 is great! I've never used Very. I guess I'm just waiting for the perfect deal which would be around that price but at John Lewis. Don't think it will happen but I will give it a few more weeks and if not probably bite the bullet and just order at this price.

Shame Black Friday got the best deal, guess January sales is last hope.

If you have never used Very before, open a credit account, KXU44 [code] expires in 4 days.

£174.99 + £3.99 delivery and £25 applied to your account once processed towards the credit leaving just £153.98 to pay, making it less than Black Friday deals..

There is no such thing as a perfect deal, John Lewis offer a 2 year warranty, same as everywhere else with Samsung 24 months warranty.

Other option is to use Quidco for Argos (£179.99 less £17.99 = £162), purchase via Fasttrack and get 10% cashback providing everything tracks ok (this offer expires however in 8 hours). Main problem is stocks at Argos are limited, and you would need to wait for cashback redemption.

Failing that you will have to take a gamble on January sales. Personally I am happy I am getting it for less than Black Friday price from Very.
