People that are complaining about the 2gb of RAM don't know what they are on about, Samsungs OS ram management is amazing and unless you keep switching between more than 5 apps it shouldn't be an issue.
I'd have been all over this if it had more than 2GB ram.

Not for low RAM it isn't, minimum I'd say is 4GB now. Android is a RAM …Not for low RAM it isn't, minimum I'd say is 4GB now. Android is a RAM monster nowadays especially Samsung Phones

It entirely depends on how your device is optimised and what apps/games you're running. There's a great video by Android authority in the Gary explains series where he talks about some of the latest ram specs being totally overkill. The average Android app uses about 300mb of ram. Chrome can go up to double or triple that if you have an insane amount of tabs open. For most people using this tablet they can have chrome, Spotify, Gmail and Facebook running and they will be able to swap between them with little to no lag or stutter at all. For 99% of tablet users this will be absolutely fine.

The only need for 4gb of ram and up is if you're running highly intensive graphical games and you wish to jump between games and/or YouTube/Facebook etc.

Also, remember a tablet uses less ram than a phone because tasks related to SMS, phone calls and carrier services are not needed.

The phone I'm typing this message on comes with 4gb of ram and multi-tasking on it is way worse than on this tablet believe it or not. I've got an Honor phone and it has incredibly severe ram management and even if I open 3 Chrome tabs and I flick between them it will reload the pages which can be incredibly frustrating. I can flick between tabs on this Samsung tablet with no reloading at all. The fact that my phone struggles flicking between apps is not a sign that Android needs more than 4gb of ram (it doesn't) it's just a sign of how poorly optimised ram management is on my phone.

Anyone who's thinking of buying this tablet I promise you that if you're not out to juggle between lots of high end games and just want to use it for email, Facebook, web browsing, Google docs and YouTube - you will be delighted with this tablet.

Good deal, any idea if a refund would be issued if I decided to return the McAfee
I'd have been all over this if it had more than 2GB ram.
M5 better option if you can find a decent deal
Thanks ordered x
Thanks ordered
Mcafee worth 3 quid if that.
I've got this tablet and it's excellent. McAfee is useless though but still a hot deal.

Thanks very much! Wow comparing both specs there really isn't much in it! Not much of an upgrade. Except screen size lol

I'm essentially just using it for YouTube, reading, Netflix, Prime Video and it's very smooth, of course, multitasking isn't going to be its strong point, but it definitely fits my needs, and don't feel I'll need more than 2GB ram for my use.

This is a lot better in every single way. Bigger and better display, much, much faster CPU & GPU, faster wi-fi, bigger battery (and new at that), etc, etc.
Yep I got one in the deal from Curry's unless you are constantly switching between a few heavy games or quite a few apps then 2GB ram is still fine for everyday use.

Had a look at the options and Argos do a trade in option on old tablets. Anyone any experience of this or recommend any other trade in traders?

I have this tablet and I'm very happy with it. Not as snappy as my Note 9 phone but runs everything very well, Inc Netflix Prime Video, Web, Gmail, YouTube, Office, etc. Don't worry about the 2gb ram.

iPad has 2Gb

Comparing apples and oranges there (no pun intended). iOS is highly optimised as Apple makes the hardware and software themselves. iOS devices have historically shipped with relatively small amounts of ram because of this.
Great tablet. Got it in the currys black friday deal. Very happy with it.

This or iPad 2019 10.2 for £270?
Thank you for posting, we have added your thread to the Highlights page
Would this be a good upgrade from an iPad mini 3? Or is there a better tablet to go for

Or maybe some of us already have tablets with 2GB ram and know the limitations of those specs for what we want a tablet for.

I'd be interested to know what it is you couldn't do on yours and why you think lack of ram is to blame? If your tablet is sluggish it's more likely to be an underpowered processor.

Tablets are basically consumption devices - if you're looking for a workstation you'd be better off with a Chromebook or small Windows laptop.

For media consumption, web browsing, Facebook and casual gaming this tablet is great.
