I've still got my old note 10.1 and by God its slower than a slug now.
Never really use a tablet anymore because phone is big enough now for my needs.
Good price for a Samsung tab though
🔥
MrSwitch24/08/2019 09:19

Looks the same to me. Hmmmm

The version with the pen is the SM-P200. It's also got a faster processor and more memory. This is the SM-T290.
Everything I've read on this tablet suggests it is all plastic not metal. Not sure if the Argos description is correct.

EDIT: looking into this further a question answered on the Argos site states this is model SM-T290 which does have a metal back but no S-Pen.

I'm sure this tablet comes with an S-pen that slots into the tablet. It's not clear from the Argos description.

Although maybe it doesn't! I can't keep up with Samsung tablets sometimes....

I'm tempted by the tab a 10.1 that's £169 at the moment.
Should also get a £10 voucher with both of these.

Ok I can't post it as the URL is banned. But it's not from the "Toby" pub but it's a good "deal".

In this case I can't comment on the P200 but the camera on the T290 is average in good light conditions but is poor in dark situations.

I bought one to test for work (building surveying) and find that the camera is poor indoors especially in voids and cupboards etc... Not having a flash is a real let down.

To be fair though that tablet had good hardware and was hampered by Samsung’s famous Touchwiz bloatware. I’d expect better from this new tablet now Samsung seem to have learned people want minimal bloat. I have a Sony Z3 Compact Tablet that still runs great (though it’s trapped on Android 6) as Sony didn’t cripple it with junk - the only thing I can’t fix is the pathetic 16GB internal memory with only around 7GB usable.

Yes was a very good tablet when I bought it and the screen is really good.
The battery is poor now and the fact its stuck on jellybean means it lags like hell.
I could replace the battery I suppose but just can't be bothered getting it out anymore.

This is the exact same situation I'm in - the storage not being expandable is a killer while apps are getting bigger and bigger!

My kids are always having to uninstall things if they want something new putting on it!

I'd spend more and get the Tab 10.5, 3GB RAM and Quad speakers.

The Tab 10.1 is old and speakers are badly located at the base, no stereo sound when you use it in landscape mode, and 2GB Ram is a bit tight now.

Or get the Huawei T5, 32GB version.

I have an s7 edge actually, and this would be a good replacement tablet if I was after one.
Basically the same specs as a Tesco Hudl 2 from 5 years ago, but with a lower res screen.

Samsung really do treat us well.
1280x800 resolution is not great....cooling applied.
The Huawei M3 lite is better than this which has a Full-HD display, 3GB RAM and high quality Harman stereo speakers.

1280x800 pixels and only 2gb ram, its not as good as my 5 year old Nexus.

Ta very much!
My sons old Tab A (about 2-3 years) Is really slow and not getting all the apps, would it be worth updating to this? And is there anything I could do to the old one to beef it up maybe

Nothing particularly bad about 1280x800 resolution on an 8 inch tablet. Using one now and totally usable and small (maybe not tiny) text is perfectly readable.
Get the mi pad 4

The Tab A has just been refreshed for 2019 and it's a very good everyday tablet. Only 2gb of ram but that's adequate for a tablet and it zips along just fine. Very good screen and sound quality for Netflix and YouTube etc

Try a factory reset. Just make sure you copy anything important on your tablet to Google Drive or over to the SD card first.

Your tablet whilst not a speed demon should perform reasonably well with the specs.

Yes, the Tab A 10.5 has Quad speakers, it's great but Tab A 10.1 still has 2 speakers at the base. Definitely not great for Netflix, watching YouTube when only one side have sound in landscape.

There are tablets out with 3GB RAM with better speakers placement and cheaper. The Tab A 10.1 is not a good choice for media usage. Even the cheaper Acer iconia 10 with front facing speakers is better than the Tab A for films.

Do you have the tablet or have you actually heard it? I've got several tablets and rate the Tab A highly for the price. It's a great tablet for media consumption actually. You're very unlikely to be able to hear the stereo separation on a 10 inch tablet. The speakers are the loudest on any tablet I've owned and sound great.

Tried it, it was annoying, the Tab A 10.1 It's not great as a media device, the Huawei mediapad M series, Lenovo yoga tab 3 plus, Kindle fire HDX, they were great sounding tablets. You wouldn't buy a TV with speakers only placed on the left, would you.

It's a 10 inch tablet not a TV. I've got the Fire 10 with stereo speakers either side and although it's good the Tab A sounds better. And the screen on the Tab A is several leagues above the Fire 10. If sound is important you need to pair it up with a bluetooth speaker anyways. For the price it's a great tablet

Not Fire HD 10, the Kindle Fire "HDX" was one of the best, when Amazon were making proper tablets.
You shouldn't need use Bluetooth speaker, not convenient. It has a great SoC, only let down it's the one sided sound, just put one of the speaker on the opposite side.
