Great find. Got 1 of these tabs. Superb piece of kit for the price 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good spot
These are good but sadly still on android 4.4 unless you root it and install a 3rd party android 7 build
Beware of the bloatware on these! I got one from John Lewis a while back, even they admitted it wasn't fit for purpose when updates couldn't be added due to the insufficient space available on the hard drive (i.e memory added won't make any difference) they took it back for a full refund because it was unusable for what I'd needed it for: downloading and watching TV. Probably ok for email and basic apps or their own preloaded apps but not much else unless your happy to root it.
8GB?!

Samsung has been guilty of these practices. I have also seen something like 1.5GB RAM.
Absolute tat. Still no better than what feels like a decade old Hudl or Nexus.

Tablet hardware hasn't moved on at all in last 4 years, bar the shield.
Hmm Wil pass coz am looking for 10inch

There’s a guy on mavicpilots who has a list of compatible tablets, think he’s called msinger he’s definitely worth checking out!
Ridiculous that big manufacturers are making tabs with only 8Gb, and in reality only 6Gb of that is usable.
To be fair, if somebody is looking for a cheap tablet for surfing the Web then this is a great deal.
However, my son had one of these and the 8gb memory doesn't cut it for anything else, even expanding the memory doesn't help because large apps, games, cannot be moved.
But like I said, it's a cheap Samsung tablet. It will make use to somebody.

Yes, that's true. They went back to HD ready screens, dumped hdmi, scrimped on memory, and abandon their updates. But I had to replace an aging Asus tablet, and was glad to find the 4/64gb full HD Lenovo Tab 4 8 plus on offer a few months ago, finally a tablet as good as a new mid-range phone.

It's not just underselling us on the hardware, short of finally getting android 7 on my tab s2 8" 4G, it hasn't seen an android security update in 6 months. In fact, if you check the Samsung website, it dropped supporting quarterly and monthly updates for the S2 range! This is a samsung issue, as the february security update is pending release from Android, and has been as regular as clock work since my last update was pushed through by Samsung!

I have found this article, which doesn't make for pleasant reading with regards to Meltdown and Spectre, while it makes no reference to the Tab E range, samsung looks to be supporting only its most recent devices:

Article on 9to5Google

I am not a fanboy of any brand in particular, but certain other brands wouldn't get away with that, not in the least! But that is a whole other debate.

To that end, I am moving on from them.

These were tat when I brought them for the kids years ago
got one of these from the sky broadband deal.
so far found it to be quite slow.
i bought some of these 2 years ago brand new, and it's stuck on Android 4.4.4, which means some apps won't install on it from the Google Play Store. The mains ones are still fine (iPlayer, All4, Netflix, amazon Video, Sky Go etc), but you will start to hit brick walls with this. Android is now up to version 8, and this thing is 4 main versions behind. Typical Android guff in my eyes, people complain about Apple, but if you bought an iPhone 5S 2 years ago (the 6S was out then, but I imagine some places, inc Apple, prob still sold a new 5S for a cheap price), it wouldn't be stuck on iOS7 (in fact the 5S runs iOS11).

Lesson learnt, you buy cheap (Android), you buy twice.

i spent hours and hours looking, i think you have to run cyanogen mod or something, seems as if unless you're a bit of a nerd with this stuff, you can forget it. and you're right, the US version has Android 7, but it's (I think) an SMT560NA or something, it has 2 extra letters in the product number

That's better than having to deal with the 8GB of storage. Unless you could make it run adoptable storage, then it might be acceptable.
