Is it double the value?

I didn't even know these existed. Decent.

these new Pro lines are nice but overpriced. The next ones coming out later this year are hi-res (retina) using OLED screens. Now that should be one truly incredible picture.

Huh..it is already 341ppi, which is a higher pixel density than anything ever produced by Apple. I'd say this screen would be good enough for most people.

Music? Books? Movies? Apps? Take your pick.

1600 x 2560 pixels, 8.4 inches (~359 ppi pixel density)

I'm sure this resolution is more than enough for 8.4" screen

I think his point is that they will be OLED not higher resolution

Not sure if I need this but have some heat.

anyone know if you can use the £100 voucher for devices? could save it for when the next nexus comes out!

Never by the first gen

Good price but a terrible tablet, like all samsung tabs.

Simply put, the ridiculously heavy custom skin Samsung use, combined with the QHD resolution, causes this thing to lag constantly. It just can't handle it, even with a S800 powering it. Likely an optimisation issue that will never be fixed due to Samsung not knowing what the hell they want to do where the tablet market is concerned.

The battery life is also atrocious compared to other tablets on the market. Although in fairness, I've yet to see an android tablet come anywhere near the iPad where battery life is concerned.

Got the LG G Pad 8.3 recently for £119. Do I get this too???

Well this is probably slightly more powerful, and has a better build, but unless you want the £100 credit, there really isn't any reason to buy this unless you actually need a second tablets. You won't really notice much difference in performance between the two.

I just wish samsung would introduce quick removable cases for their devices - magnetic rather than scratchy plastic clips.

I've spent less than £5 at the Play Store in the past 2 years. And it's not because of cost.

'terrible tablet'?

This tab is getting an average of 4 out of 5 in professional reviews. It's beating the iPad Mini Retina in many head-to-head comparisons. Your statements are ridiculous and not based in reality.

THOU ART A TROLL.

Why don't the reviews mention the slowness they actually state its very fast??

1) You've been using the wrong tablets then - I own a few android devices and prefer some to iOS
2) If all Samsung Tabs are so bad why did you get one?

Disagree with facts all you want, your family will still see you as a disappointment.

Who said I bought one?

And Samsung phones are exactly the same. Every one of them needs a custom rom to get the devices functioning to their full potential.

Only the nexus line manages to get good enough performance, but even then the standby battery is awful.

nothing is perfect, in a world designed for profit, and with technology rapidly progressing, they have limited time to fine tune before it is on the market, however, if they fix the issues in future updates, then most of us consider it reasonable aslong as the product works well, which is questionable with Samsung.
You seem to be an idealist, always wanting what you can't have, looking for faults above the benefits.
Comparing iPads to android tablets? the latter is what it is and id say the battery life is directly related to performance/efficiency of iOS. If android tablets used the same hardware and specifications across all manufacturers, fine tuning would be a much simpler task but we all know that will never happen.
To install a custom rom immediately after purchase simply shows you are buying a product you are not happy with from the start.
