Product Details

With Samsung's Super AMOLED technology and a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, the Galaxy Tab S delivers a truly exceptional viewing experience. The 8.4-inch WQXGA display uses the latest technology to provide an incredible 2560x1600 resolution, which is amazingly crisp and clear. An Adaptive Display mode automatically adjusts the colour gamut, sharpness, and contrast to ensure that your screen is best suited to the content that you're viewing.

Slim at 6.6mm thick and weighing just 294g, the Galaxy Tab S can be used one handed and is easy to carry anywhere. It runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and is powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core processor with 3GB of RAM. With the tablet’s innovative Multi Window feature you can browse the web, watch videos and check your email simultaneously on one screen. The SideSync 3.0 function enables you to view your smartphone screen and control it on your Galaxy Tab S screen. Ideal for remote conferencing, WebEx allows multi-point video conferencing for up to 8 people.

Battery life on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S is impressive, with around 10 hours of usage from a full charge. The tablet also benefits from an 8-megapixel main camera with CMOS sensor and autofocus, and a front-facing 2.1-megapixel camera. To keep the Galaxy Tab S protected it uses special fingerprint recognition technology, which lets you lock the device with a swipe of a finger.

good deal, i wish i got this instead of the 8inch kindle - but it was half the price.
I made the original post went cold, good to see its getting deserved heat here ...
anyone find the LTE version anywhere? i'd love to have a sim card in it.
I'll wait for stock clearance
Had this. Great tablet.

For it for £160 perfect,better than s2
RiverDragon8

Use your phone as a wi-fi hot spot no need to pay extra for LTE version.

yes good point, might just do that.

If you have an Android phone, you can tether over Bluetooth and then piggy back the tablet onto a WiFi network through your phone - useful for the more restrictive WiFi environments, that have tighter controls on what is allowed to connect to the WiFi ;-)
Is this better than the Tab 4? I was looking at Tab 4 vs Tab E - now I'm confused!
tempting
I've got this tab. it's great. better specs than s2.
it's way better than tab 4 & tab e
I have had mine about a year. its a good tablet with a great screen. the only annoyance has been the bloatware.
I got this tablet for £250. It's great, I mainly use it for films and comics
Its been this price for weeks
I was thinking of getting a dual boot Chinese windows/android tablet for Christmas. Am assuming would get more for my money? Any recommendations was looking on banggood.
Thanks. Alex

Had the bigger one, and thought exactly the same. Great screen-in fact best samsung have done. Got rid though, because of the bloat and the samsung interface, which ive never liked, but was hoping this would be diiferent.

o2 had them. It's where I bought mine
Great tablet, I've got the 10" version and the screen is phenomenal. Really good if you like digital comics.
geezo, do you work for samsung, by any chance ?
I've had mine for about 6 months. Superb in every way. Long battery life, Android 5.0 and VERY important....STAYS FAST and doesnt slow down like the POS ASUS tablet it replaced. Had the Asus tablet 2 months, hated every second using it. The Samsung Tab S 8.4 is seriously recommended, especially at this price. Runs everything I can throw at it.
Most unrated tablet as a high end tablet and a cracking kids safe one. Kids Mode is a Samsung locked down UI main reason I stuck with Samsung as kids mode gives great control but also a nice fun UI for kids.

Always amazed at why other tablets manufacturers avoid a kids only mode.
Some use use profiles and lock them down, fine for older kids but for kids upto 6-7 this is the best.
you can buy grade A 4G version with 12 months warranty from CEX online and in store for £185, I bought the 10.5 4G for £200 on Vodafone, it cost me £4 to unlock via eBay unlock code and the used the 200gb simca rd in it. it's awesome, also bought a £6 Rankie usb to hdmi from amazon to mirror screen to any modern tv.
best tablet I own. only downside is the bloat ware which takes up 3/4 of the internal storage.
unless you root and unintelligible the Sammy bloat, there's no way to get round it as installed app data cannot be moved to sd card.

I recall commenting in that thread how strange that was. Someone then suggested that people were getting it confused with the regular HD GTs and I thought that possibly made sense, in which case why did today's one heat up?
I posted this about a year ago.....it's probably worth reposting now.

While I appreciate the colour is a personal choice I'd strongly recommend the Bronze version over the White one, it's a sort of mid/dark brown with a slightly golden lustre.

It's really very nice..

For those of you serious about your tablet......

1. Get a Genuine Samsung Bluetooth Keyboard......Part EJ-CT700

Currently the UK VERSION seems to ONLY be available in the Samsung stores, there are versions on E-Bay and elsewhere that have either Korean/English or Euro/English mixed keyboards....the ones in the Samsung stores are proper British English with a £ symbol in the correct place above the 3 key.

The Keyboard doubles as a Case, the keyboard 'folds' into it and there's a catch to keep it secure, using the keyboard and say a sleeve of some type gives you almost a laprtop solution.

Admittedly the keyboard at £40 is ridiculously expensive, but frankly once you receive and play with your Tab you'll appreciate why the keyboard is worth every penny.

amazon.co.uk/Sam…ard

2. If you don't want to buy the Keyboard...The Genuine Samsung Folio Book case is brilliant and available in Brown, but again at £50 is crazily overpriced in my opinion.

3. If you want a case that works, is good and is sensibly priced buy this one.
amazon.co.uk/Fin…tie

Price varies from £6 depending on the colour/pattern you want. The Map pattern or plain Dark Brown both work very well with the Bronze IMHO.

BE CAREFUL WHEN PICKING DIFFERENT COLOURS, the chooser will change the Tab option if the colour isn't available for the Tab S so before you confirm your order MAKE SURE YOUR COLOUR IS FOR THE TAB S 8.4.

4. If you get your tab and decide you don't feel comfortable with the bloatware interface install Nova desktop from the App store. It is customisable in loads of ways and allows you to end up with a Tab display looking like this...

The chuwi hi8 dual boot is only about 20-30% slower than this tablet and at £60ish it is great value. Family has the tab s lte and tab s wifi. However, you should be aware of the cons

Pros
Very light
Good build quality
Decent screen for the money
Windows and android
micro sd card slot
Fast, especially at the price

Cons
Screen set back quite a bit - most people wont notice though
Returns/issue difficult to resolve
speaker is terrible
charging is terrible and incredibly slow - takes at least 10 times longer than the tab s
wifi range is abysmal
wifi n only (not ac) - not a big issue though as ac coverage is bad anyway
delivery takes 2-3 weeks

He was responding to my inquiry about Chinese tablets they are far harder to get resolved if an issue. Am sure this is far better protected and would be easier to resolve an issues.

As he pointed out some bargains at the low end am actually temped to see what could get at the high end £200+ from china but maybe thats a mistake but liking idea of mixed windows 10/android

I've been using it for a few days now. The screen quality is awesome and this is very fast tablet as compare to my friend's ipad mini(1,2,3,4). I've provided some facts below:

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4
Resolution 1600 x 2560 pixels (~359 ppi pixel density)
RAM = 3 GB
Price = £199 (Offer)

Apple iPad mini
Resolution = 768 x 1024 pixels (~162 ppi pixel density)
RAM = 512 MB

Apple iPad mini 2
Resolution = 1536 x 2048 pixels (~324 ppi pixel density)
RAM = 1 GB DDR3
Price = £219

Apple iPad mini 3
Resolution = 1536 x 2048 pixels (~324 ppi pixel density)
RAM = 1 GB DDR3

Apple iPad mini 4
Resolution = 1536 x 2048 pixels (~324 ppi pixel density)
RAM = 2 GB
Price = £319

As you can see above, 359 pixel per inch with a higher screen resolution size with 3GB of RAM is not a match with any of the apple's mini! I am not against apple but I am happy with this purchase
