Good price! remember the £200 entertainment package you get with it too - samsung.com/uk/…ab/

How does this compare head-to-head with the iPad?

I was wondering how long it would take to break the 400 quid price barrier (without code etc).

I had one for a few days and really liked it. Returned it to try out an iPad and remembered why i h8 their iOS so much.

Dont know wether to grab another tab or wait till the new year for the new one's coming out.

Sure it's great, but it seems a lot of money for a 7" screen?

Yes, screen size seems to be a major difference.

All the tablets have their own merits, but if you're waiting for a non-Apple, fully equipped and capable tablet have a look at the Notionink Adam.

Yeah been looking at it too joe but its going to be a while before we can get our hands on one. End of January. I would prefer to read a few reviews first before getting one. Might just get a tab now and then sell it on after Xmas.

lets not forget though the galaxy is a phone as well, the ipad isnt but i agree it would be nice to have a bigger screen

iPad is nice but its heavier than a brick. I prefer the Samsung.

GALAXY TABLET ?

Darn I thought this was a huge bar of chocolate........

The Adam is coming up however not available yet. The Advent Vega can be nicely and easilly hacked (availability an issue tho), and is a good middle ground machine. Or of course wait for the ipad2 next year

any idea whih version is this?the 64gb?no way right?then why is the rrp 599??

I've been playing with both of these at work recently and the Galaxy Tab is a much nicer form factor for using while holding in one hand and using the other to type / interact. However, the operating system and especially the app store weigh heavily in the iPad's favour.

It's a tough call to be honest. If the Galaxy was £50 cheaper then it would be a no-brainer.

I am not a fan of the apple movement and think that the galaxy will prove to be a great rival to the ipad, even if steve jobs believes that the smaller tablets will not take off. go get 'em samsung

Must admit it looks nice but to be honest why would anyone want a tablet over a decent laptop? I would rather put the money towards a laptop my self but not voting hot or cold

watch out Isaac Newton!

Could you tech buy this from curry's, get price match plus 10% (as they can't be beaten on price??) and have this tab for £360?

Plus you can reserve and collect..... not worry about the blizzard, Christmas delivery?

Instant access, smaller size and weight, touch screen, apps, ease of use - you can be surfing the web whist your laptop is still booting up

I agree, you are always going to need a computer for general work, games etc put the tablet with it's touch screen is instant action, games, apps, films, net etc. You can chill out on the sofa with it. Each for their own. Although I can understand why some hate them.... along with apple.

It's 10% of the price difference, not 10% of the item price.

I've just rung Comet & this is online offer only. Shame as I've got some love2shop vouchers. Don't think the cashback Curry's thing would work as offer not in store.

The thing is though ive already got a HTC Desire that can do all of this... personally it would be a waist of money for me but if you have money to burn you might get one i guess . Tablets are a bit like netbooks nice toys but cant really do an serious work on them.

Only if this is instore (I'm not sure whether this is as my nearest Comet is a bit out the way), HOWEVER at HMV it is £419 instore, so you could pricematch with that at Curry's.

Go in store with a print out from their website and you should be able to purchase the item in store at the online price. I did that yesterday to get a PS3 GT5 Bundle and its being delivered to the store for me to collect.

These will be down to £350 then £299 soon enough after Xmas. There's just not the demand for 7" tablets.

Spending £400+ on a tablet and not getting an ipad is just bonkers (and this comes from a long-term Apple-resistor!)

Thanks hitman will give that a go. It's £400 on Amazon now too.

£387 - considering QUIDCO - 3% for all sales, including Collect at Store

Anyone who spends £400 on this POS over an iPad wants their head looking at.

Forget about the Ipad an Andriod Tablets go for the the Windows Tablets. They have harddrives aound eg 250gb while the Ipad and Android have around 32gb. Also the windows tablet can run Windows 7 and billions of Applications most free.....

You'll be an absolute fool to buy this over an iPad. It may have a few features the iPad lacks but the applications out there for it are shockingly poor.

Is there much difference between this and an Android phone other than the screen size?

Ipads have been selling for a little over £300 used recently and, as for their weight, perhaps that is because they are made of aluminium and glass....plastic is bound to be cheaper in both senses of the word.....
