This is an awesome tab. have spent 350 for a 3g version a month ago. Heat added.

big price drop looks like people are not taking to the new device's tab 3 was more expensive than this price not long back

not really saving 120 though as most places sell it for £249

Currys/PC world pricematch with 10% the difference making it £213

Great price and if I didn't already have the LG G Pad for a bargain price I would have been all over this.

The only thing I don't like though is the leathery back, the build doesn't quite seem to be as good as the LG G Pad

Nice review at notebookcheck

Looking for the 3g version.

Hot

I want the 4G version...why don't they bring the cellular version(s) out first its always just wifi ones with 3G/4G coming along later

I want 4G and I want it NOW !!!!....:p

Aw man! I've just bought an ipad mini from JL for £250, but would've preferred this

Has it got the usual Samsung unnecessary Android tweaks and bloatware? Really nice hardware but Samsung devices always run better with custom firmware.

bought the 10.1 for my nephews and the prefer it to the ipad air. v elegant and extremely powerful. plus iOS certainly isn't the way to go.

Not sure about JL return policy, but could you not return it as an unwanted gift or something?

Better off with the iPad for a tablet, better selection of tablet optimised apps.

But not micro SD slot on the iPad, need a tablet with a microSD slot so I can stick in a 64GB and swap em around with different TV shows/videos for when traveling..

of course it Samsung, I should have guessed

To be honest the cheap and nasty plastic build quality has really put me off buying this... And the fact that the new S version is definitely (for me anyway) £100 better.

Great, thanks OP. I went for this, I couldn't justify the extra £100 for what I'll use it for.

But you won't get the two year warranty that John Lewis offer so not worth the small saving.

I've got an ipad mini that I got as a xmas gift, hardly used it. The other day I was trying to put pdfs and ebooks on there....what a pain! I 1st set up on my main pc and had files on there, but as I used my laptop the only way I could get the ebooks on there was to sync the ipad and it deleted everything else I had on there. I was searching google, watching youtube vids etc just to try and get my content on there. I ended up buying an app for £5 to get the ebooks on there easier, thinking that would solve the problem and to find the app couldn't read epub or mobi but only pdf lol...sorry this went into bit of a rant but I'll take Android over ios, plug and drag and drop....now that's simple. I like the aspect ratio of the ipad are there any android ones with a very similar aspect ratio and resolution as the retina ipads.

You could've used the Kindle app and emailed the books in .mobi format to it.

Thanks, that will help for mobi files that I have. What I don't like is it's just not simple enough, you should be able to drag and drop to somewhere. I tried pushbullet, but couldn't work out how to save the transferred file to somewhere else such as to ibooks.

On my old Note I just has folders and drag and dropped stuff when ever I felt like it...to and from the device. I ain't even bothered with music and movies yet. I don't really use iTunes or want to use it really either, it's a shame Apple tries to force you into using all there services, especially when they are not wanted.

Edit: I just realized you said that I could email them, that's also long winded a bit. Send files one by one some files could be 60mb - 100mb etc, it's a bit long winded. When I got time unless I get use to this way of things I'm going to look for an alternative. If anybody has any recommendation for an Android tab with a similar res and aspect ration let me know.

You see, the assumption that Apple makes with their iDevices is that anyone who buys them to read ebooks will know just enough to log into iBooks and buy them, thus giving them a fat cut. How could an Apple fanbois possibly know about sideloading ebooks or apps?? That requires someone to look over the wall.

Doubly unlucky cos JL were selling the iPad mini for £219 a couple of weeks back!! Anyway it's John Lewis so if you're not happy take it back and exchange for one of these.

Just Wondering

I've got a 8.4 s, it really is a feast for the eyes, stunning screen

Yeah, I agree, it's a thing of beauty, much nicer than the iPad screen or any other tablet I've seen.
And, I'd always regret not chucking in another few quid for the latest model.
