would love to get hold of an make a htc/valves vr room!

It's the 3rd generation in the Samsung gear Vr series.

Gear vr 320 was designed for the note 4.
Gear vr 321 was designed for the s6 and s6 edge
the gear vr lite is the newer cheaper model which has mounts for the s6, s6 edge, note 5 and se edge+.

It's the 'consumer' model at this reduced price, compared to the older £169 price tag.

s6 edge+ *

Oh, also it's about 30% liter and had a re designed touch pad on the side off the headset.

i suppose if you want to go to the top end of the VR market this is one to get, but you can get the universal generic headsets that handle any phone from aliexpress for around a tenner.

Don't compare this to £5 Google Cardboard headsets, this is far, far beyond those. It has an SD card slot for storing VR videos, games etc and fans to keep the lenses clear. The games available for this are a real eye opener. If you have a compatible Samsung phone, this is THE headset to demo VR to people.

Fits the note 5 you say,so that rules anyone out in Europe then as Samsung didn't see fit to sell it over this side the pond.

I would certainly go for one of the other £20 or less headsets that are Google cardboard compatible and work with a much wider range of handsets, both android and iOS if it were just to experience vr. The Samsung gear vr only works with the 4 latest sammy handsets, and the app side of things is more constrained by having to be accessed through its own gear vr App Store.

Link isn't working? (And searches on the site aren't revealing anything either). Was the release of info a mistake by Samsung?

are all these headsets artificially limited to a certain phone brand or are they crosscompatible? i.e. would i be able to use LG g4 in this and a Samsung phone in LG VR? I'm not asking about generic chinese headsets off ebay/amazon.

This is an awesome headset and not comparable to the cheap alternatives. Pity it isn't compatible with the note 4 otherwise I'd snap this up. Tempted to get an edge+ just so I can get this headset

Remember you get access to the oculus app which has lots of content. You cannot access the content without the gear vr (I tried).

It says product not found anyway.

Yea shame - taken it off the site already.

seriously £80 for a piece of plastic that might not fit your next phone. Where as £10 for a cheapo one that still fits almost any phone . I don't get it.

PS4 VR is not far away last I read.

My HTC one M8 gets very, very hot when I tried some cardboard apps from Play store, VR is the way forward, lawnmower man lol.

I lot of people are just assuming the cheaper google cardboard are just as good as the Samsung vr , I own dk2 and Samsung note 5 imported, and these beat all the cheap google card board, Chinese import 20 quid things Hands Down, I know because I have tried them, one headset does not fit all , you need adjustable lens, the distance between people eyes are all different , so if your thinking of just buying some cheap crap like I did ,you might be able see proper though them, all get a blurred vision, with the adjustment anyone can use them.

You wanna look like a duck billed platypus? Then these are for you!!!

Your right, cheapies are ok for a quick test, I remember the cardboard was blurred and you had to fiddle with it so much just to be able to see a blurry image.

Obviously if you have a dk2 then you know the scene well, so advice well taken, I think this will get cheaper as we move towards the release of Sonys PS4 VR add on.

I've tried the Gear VR Innovator Edition and it blew me away.

I ordered a cardboard headset from ebay over the weekend. Don't expect it to be as good as this but wanted to test it out as they are very cheap.
I'm interested in the PS4 VR and would be amazing to play with GT7 on my racing rig!

Heard the note 5 is a 2016 model.

Why oh why did I buy the Galaxy Note Edge! Incompatible with all of their VR headsets! oO

They are back online and in stock now - grabbed one! Thanks OP!

Looks like quidco is higher than topcashback in this case (unless I missed something in the Ts and Cs)

This might help theverge.com/201…-on

Terrible Product naming here, especially when they have the 'Innovator' edition still on the website for £169.

To clarify for anyone not sure, this Gear VR 'Lite' is simply the new Gear VR.

It is the refined, better version of the Innovator edition which is double the price on Samsung's website. Talk about confusing...

Ordered. It says next day delivery too. Early christmas present for myself!

Ordered!!

Been waiting for the new model to come out, been getting really great write-ups.

Ordered one! Does anyone know if the unit has headphone sockets, I can't find any info. I'm guessing the phones' headphone socket will be blocked when it's in the unit

There looks to be a little cut-out on the headset where the jack on the phone would be. Have a look at the pics again.
Personally I have Bluetooth jaybirds that i'll be using.
