It might be worth trying to get this phone through T-mobile however, as it is free with their cheapest contracts

Had a quick look at samdroid, looks like you can get android 2.1 with a bit of effort.

How different is android 1.5 compared to 2.1? Its all thats putting me off buying this

2.1 is so much better then 1.5

It's extremely easy to upgrade, just follow the instructions on forum.samdroid.net/

good deal if you are willing to root and upgrade the firmware...
shame Samsung dont offer it. spec seems more than capable...

I'm pretty sure that's not the case, as the Samdroid forums would be going crazy

No there isn't and you won't be able to get a unlock sim either, as the simcard needs to be slotted into the phone (like a MicroSD Card)
