Yes it's the new Samsung Photoshop, the main features are lots and lots of megapixels, a natural design taken from nature, modeled on the planet Jupiter, and it's one of the first phones that giraffes can use in comfort. Also you're able to use this to dock with the international space station, no one knows why, but its got that feature, you always need at one useless feature in a modern smartphone.

The Galaxy Mega is too damn big.

And this coming from someone who owns a Galaxy Note. I have big manly hands and big pockets, the Galaxy Note fits fine in a normal pocket, but this thing? Nope.

Plus relative to the Note 2 it has a worse screen, and weaker hardware almost across the board. Plus no S-Pin. I'd just skip this and buy a Note II instead.

And before you say "but the cost!!!" the 16 GB (not 8 GB per this) Note 2 is £50 more than this unlocked from Amazon.

I'd agree with this, and I'd suggest the guy who said anyone who thinks this is too big is getting a 5S is way off the mark.

The vast vast vast majority of people (even people with Note II like me) find this ridiculously big. Of course though they'll be a small minority which won't be bothered by this but it's just way over the top for most people.

I've voted it hot though given the price and not my personal opinion.

Here we go again.

I have been using this phone for over 2 months and here's my take on this device coming from the original Note:

* It is a big phone because it's the selling point of this device. If you like smaller phones then this is not for you and you don't have to be a d*ck about it.

* The screen is not pixelated. I find it better than the AMOLED of my old Note because it's brighter, bigger, has full RGB subpixels (not pentile), has purer whites, and does not have AMOLED issues (yellowish/bluish whites, black clipping/crush, black spots on dark backgrounds, faster screen deterioration, etc)

* The performance is great. All apps I use everyday works smoothly and you can check Note 2 vs Mega performance videos to see that the Mega is actually smoother in everyday use. There are also lots of tweaks you can do to optimise performance even without rooting.

* It fits regular shirt and trouser pockets. Slim fit jeans may have some problems though but overall you will get used to the size and might not want anything smaller.

* It is a mid range phone not a flagship high end phone like the Xperia Z Ultra or the upcoming HTC One Max so quit comparing them based on size alone. They cost twice or more than the Mega.

* If you think this is a flop, think about other manufacturers releasing similar sized phones. Nokia is releasing one soon and even Apple is rumored to be testing 6 inch devices. 7 inch tablets that make calls have been around for quite a while (Asus Fonepad, Galaxy Tabs with 3g, etc) so this is not something new.

* People use phones differently now than a decade ago. We now watch movies, play games, browse the web, read ebooks, and do other visual stuff on phones. Most young people also prefer texting, online chatting, twittering, and skypeing over calls so putting a huge device against their faces is something they will rarely do.

Love it or hate it, phones with big screens are here to stay.

have the 16 gig version from thailand for 1 month works smoothly image clear and clean battery last a lot if you disable airview is big but i always said to my friend that because i have it big i have a big phone too....

6.60 x 3.46 x 0.31 inches (167.6 x 88 x 8 mm) 199grams
if you can't handle 6inches : look elsewhere!

they've done a great job to keep the bezel small, so it's not much bigger than the screen and the weight to a minimum.
Looks like a bigger s4

Agree with gx3k, go for it.

It's still smaller than the original mobile and that caught on!
With an aging population this may make sense.
Many people find the touch screens of small phones too fiddly.
Plus easier to find when you put it down

that's good and bad

could be difficulties with any warranty claim ? - altho officially you bought it within the EU so 'should' be years no quibble

Now only £290.50!

Its now dropped another 50p fozey. I think this would be a great phone - but it just keeps dropping in price.
