No, thats for a 4:3 monitor, this is a 16:9 monitor.

This is the std resolution for the 18.5" 16:9 monitors.

Yup, that's right, making it slightly better than 720p

I saw this and thought cool, but then I figured, even my netbook has vga out on it so i'm not sure when it'd be useful.

Hey this looks cool .. especially if you just have to use a USB connector or do you have to use both USB and VGA to get the picture ?

Good solution for a macbook as getting mini DVI to DVI or VGA adapters are costly and they tend to break too.

Seems a good price for an 18" monitor. Not sure why I want USB, tho.

This looks a useful idea, and is not one I had come across before. Assuming no dedicated video processor but just normal onboard graphics Does the use of USB rather than VGA in any way affect the performance of the computer (maybe what I am getting at, is whether it alters the way in which the processor has to deal with the tasks it is performing).

FAIL

I would have to agree, the resolution is a bit low for me and less than the 1440x900 17" screen on my laptop! But still good none the less, is it powered by USB?

Looks pretty sleek and not overly heavy either, good for the office traveller I feel! Imagine setting one of these up on the train.... :P

I think the graphics processing is done on board the monitor. Obviously this will limit it to 2D uses only, I doubt you'll be able to run a 3D game on it.

That is only if you use USB though, use the D-SUB and it'll work like any normal monitor.

Great price, heat added.

What because I expect a screen that is 7 inches bigger than my HP Compaq 311c to have a better resolution than my netbook?

Great for watching TV pointless for doing any work - clearly something you have never experienced. :x:x

Thanks. It would appear (although this is not exactly said in the reviews) that the purpose of this product is to be able to add a second (or more), relatively portable screen(s) to a lpatop, presumably for meetings, presentation or the like.

Oh I've experienced plenty of TV watching, thank you very much

Quite tempted to go for one of these, but when I ask myself the question Mrs Nicknack would ask me if I bought one, "WHY" I don't really know.

But then I'm just a sucker for new gadgets and toys :-)

Ive bought one... Bought a dell all in one that doesnt have a VGA/DVI out so this is ideal to get another monitor hooked up, if its any good will prob get another.

Tell me about it! lol

im thinking of getting this to use with cubase 5 ..will windows xp support dual screens if one of them is using usb?i see it also comes with dsub connection so can anyone recommend a cheap dual screen card..im not bothered about it playing games just want it to display.big thanks

Will consider this for my Mac Mini. Would be ideal for it and I assume it would be compatible as it uses an intel CPU

Is there any way of making this a wireless monitor for use with a desktop?

Might be able to use USB to ethernet converters a wireless router and a wireless access point...

Really odd product, USB severely limits its usage.

Rep for that!

It's got VGA too so it's an optional extra usage

Resolution is lacking but good price.

What a shame that there is no VESA holes.

Resolution is fine everyone...

Just to clarify:

Pixels Per Inch for this monitor is 84.7 (by my calculations)
19" @ 1280x1024 = 86

It's basically got the same density of pixels, just stretched to widescreen format.

I'd probably go for that, PPI would be 102, but some might want to save space, my 26" is somewhat cumbersome.

Wtf

Is Dis Real

Scan have a 7" USB (MIMO UM-710) monitor which requires no external power unlike this thing. (I assume it needs extra power at 22W consumption)
It's almost 100quid for the Mimo including VAT.

On price per inch, this is a very good deal, although if you're looking for something ultra portable, the Mimo thing is better.
YMMV.

Interesting find..
