SAMSUNG LE37R88BD 37" HD Ready digital LCD TV £494.99 delivered

Hope I get this posting right.

Been watching 37inch TVs for while & this seems a great deal. Just bought one. Selling on dixons website for £519.99 but with current discount code 'JAN20' (edit - see below) brings it down to £499.99 with free delivery. Says delivery within 28 days - I'm in no hurry (been lurking for about 6 months..) so we'll see if it comes.

Reviews seem to be very good for this tv, has Freeview and loads of other stuff that I guess must mean its quite good. Have seen at least one review from a while back quoting this as one of the best 37 panels on the go (at that time) but I guess it's subjective. If like me you have been repeatedly let down by SONY's packing in and have been struggling to step over all these SONY deals about just now - maybe this is for you ?

edit - use the PR25 code instead of JAN20 to get another FIVER OFF so price is £494.99 thanks D00nhamer

There is a £25 code you could have used, PR25 I think. Good deal though.

nice one d00nhamer

I couldn't get these other codes to work  but if they do then another fiver is better in the wallet towards a wall bracket ! Nicely spotted.

What about GIMME5 - that's nearly £26 off the £519.99 price. try that one too..

pr25 works

3% Egg & 3% quidco too .... potentially £465.29 for 37" samsung - BARGAIN!!

Great deal, not sure on this or the Toshiba 37" that's also been posted but is more cash.

oh man!! I sooooo wanted this TV... but I ended up buying the LG 37LC55 for £487.00 a few weeks ago. Got delivered in 2 days which was nice! (But it's now dropped another 17quid since!!!)

lcd-tv-prices.co.uk/com…tml - £470... does 1080p!

In terms of quality... Samsung does 8000:1 dynamic contrast with a 550cd/m2 brightness, where as the LG only does 5000:1 with a 450cd/m2. But the LG does 1080p where as the Samsung does 1080i.

pcworld match price plus 10%.

funny that samsung make sonys panels inside the tvs

Good price but I can not get any of the suggested codes to work.

the pc world and currys price match will not except dixons as a company too match, they said it was because they had no shops and were online only.

How strange. There are still a few Dixons stores open around the UK

Broughton, near Wrexham for example.

Hmmm, I'm just waiting for a 40" Sammy to become available for under £500.

I'll be on that, like ugly on Michael Jackson.

There's a lot more than panels in a flat tv to go wrong.
Circuit boards and the power supply spring to mind so I'm not sure your comment stacks up.:whistling:

Yup - it's a funny old world for sure...

Actually - I've never bought a sony TV - but have been though the works with casette players (yes I'm that old) VHS players, DVD recorders and AV amps - and yes - they have all packed in, in some cases replaced up to three times !

Yes I'm probably very unlucky - but that does affect judgement on future purchases. I'm sure sony TV's are very good, they get great reviews - I'm just not gonna buy one. Wife's made up her mind - if after all our experience, I'm adamant and buy a SONY -then it dies- i'm sleeping in the kids treehouse (again) ;-)

sweet deal - How'd'you work that one ? best I could get in-store was £599. I'd have contemplated the extra few quid to walk out from the store with one rather than wait.

Old age makes me impatient as D00nhamer subconciously identified when he spotted a voucher that could have saved me a further fiver. MInd you, I would have bought it for 599 instore based on reviews - but luckily the wife was there giving me all the reasons not to. She was right :whistling: (again).

I've ordered too, thanks bbbazman

14 days delivery quoted here too, is that normal for ordering tvs from dixons?

cheers voiletelizabeth - nice to put something back to this community that ironicaly by persuading me to spend wheens of cashover the months on all these HOT deals, has actually saved me hundreds !

when I found yesterday evening and first checked, delivery to me was within 14 days. But by the time I got round to persuading my wife then ordering, delivery had jumped to 'within 28 days'.

I guess it depends on postcode etc, I'm central scotland. Hopefully it'll come sooner. e-mail confirmation advises me to expect delivery before 25th January. Just enought time to find a hot-deal on a wall mount...any suggestions ? Amazon seem quite good for these.

Hi all

This sounds great, but can anyone tell me whether they come in silver (cabinet), or just black?

Cheers, Louise

Aren't PC World, Currys' and Dixons all the same company, DSG Retail?

Oh great price and great TV.

I'm wondering if Dixons will do a 10% off special on New Years day, like they did on Xmas day?

Can cancel order up to 7 days after receipt. So could order another on boxing day I suppose and cancel the original - if anyone wants to take the risk....

Yeeeahh ! I'm EH54 - Livingston, beside all the burnt out cars and where the kids wear cut-down wellies in the summer.. lol

In case anyone is wondering it's dead easy to turn off that hideous blue light (what were they thinking off ) on the front of the TV.

Can anyone recommend a good, cheap wall bracket for this LCD ?

Thanks Bbbazman - really helpful!

Louise

Hmmm, do I go for this, or wait for a decent sub £500 40 incher again?! Argh!

Might buy this but can anyone here confirm that it does come with the standard "12 months Warranty" Oh yeh Domestic & General quoted me £124 for an extra 3 years warranty that okay IMO?? what do u peepz think?

Why not just go to John Lewis, pay £599.99 with a 5 year guarantee and so save yourself c.£20 by not bothering with D&G...:whistling:

johnlewis.com/Tec…spx

Alternatively, just need to find a "store" selling for

Not sure i'd bother extending the warranty....most hardware tends to fail in the 1st 12months if there is a fault.

Once you've got past 12months you tend to find you have a good un.

That £124 will be nearly 50% of the price of a replacement I bet in 2 or 3 years time.

I go me one of these from John Lewis a couple of months ago.

Selling there for £599 with a 5 year warranty which still seems good to me.

johnlewis.com/Tec…spx

Just checked & out of stock but John Lewis aint gonna punt up the price when back in stock unlike some.....
