1080p

Sounds a blinkin good price to me buddy! Have some heat from me! Well spotted!!!

Outstanding price!

Excellent tv

Got an LE40A558 myself which is the same as this, just a few cosmetic differences. Fantastic TV for gaming and Blu Ray in my opnion. The only small problem I have with it is when playing back XviD files in XBMC you get a horrible sensation, almost like dropped frames. Tried XBMC on my other 40" Samsung (which is a Series 4 and a little older) and this one handles XviD fine.. weird. But as I said, aside from that niggle it's ace.

Thanks for the comments.

Just had confirmation through that its getting delivered on Sunday!

Looks like a great price to me. Showing out of stock now but it says to check back tomorrow.

great price, voted hot!

currys are also doing this same tv for £499.99 2p more if you cant wait for it to be delivered or for it to come back into stock. been in to my local currys this morning.

I've had one of these for about 7 months or so and get the same effect with 'stuttering' when playing back from the 360 as nickw90 does.

The TV is great and this is a good price, but if you want to play video through your 360 be aware that you may need to update the TVs firmware to sort this issue out.

Note: It's only video on the 360 that seems to do this for me. Everything else is fine; PS3 games/DVD/Blu-ray, Wii, Sky TV, Virgin TV, 360 games and the WD TV is good too. Just seems to be wmv video through the 360 that suffers this.

Even with this niggle it's a cracking TV for the price.

I have had this exact tv for almost a year now and it is a great set, I paid £599 for it btw.
I play xvid videos through my xbox 360 and have no problems whatsoever, I also use the 360 as a media centre extender and watch both live and recorded tv this way and again no problems of any kind. It may be the firmware I am on but the firmware is easy to update anyway. Download the file from samsungs site and copy onto a USB stick, plug this into the side of the telly then hold in a couple of buttons while turning on the telly. Update done!
Heat added.

How about TVersity via the 360 does that suffer from the same problems?

great buy... obv clearing old stock to make way for the new samsung led models, but what a steal at that price!!!

Never used it, sorry.

If you do get this problem it's easy enough to update the firmware though. I wouldn't worry about it.

Price seem to be up to £499.97 now. Can anyone confirm if this is true or is it just my computer?

That is the price.

Currys now showing due to high demand tv is unavailable. Same for PC World too.

You would be better off ordering from currys at £499.97 and then getting £20 off with code 20SAVE or even better take your order over £500 with some cheap usb flash drive or something and use code 30SAVE to get £30 off.

Does you 360 output at 24p? If so, that could be the reason for the judder - this TV does not seem to be very happy about accepting a 24p input (although according to the specs it should be fine )

Largely present throughout The Pursuit Of Happyness, our Blu-ray film choice on this occasion, the judder was most noticeable during slow pans, for example that across Chris Gardner (Will Smith) under the shower (10:36), and the one down the Dean Witter building (12:36), not to mention the scrolling end credits. Because these “jerks” was quite distracting, we had no choice but to revert to 1080p/60 output from the PS3: the resultant telecine judder was much more subtle and tolerable.

Possibly more likely due to 50/60hz difference, don't think the 360 can output at 24fps?

I know on Media Centre on XP/Vista you have to add a registry exception if you want MCE to keep the same refresh rate as the PC itself (which in this country needs to be 50hz) however most TFT monitors sold won't accept this, even when forced. So you're then stuck with a slightly juddery picture.

I think the XBOX 360 automatically changes to a 50hz output when watching DVDs, but not sure about WMVs, DIVX etc.

I've got used to it, it's most noticable when watching the ticker on things like sky sports news. However, it's far better having 50hz PAL stuff displayed at 60hz, than things like American TV episodes at 60hz being shown at 50hz, now that will give you a headache.

Has this got the USB port that can play . avi movie files direct or just pictures and music?

Yeah it does. *Edit* sorry, just read that properly. I'm not sure on the avi files, never tried it. Got my media centre for that.

I have the A558 in my living room, wanted one of these for the bedroom but alas to stock! I've tried Dixons, Currys, PC World. Anyone know anywhere else you can get it at this price? Otherwise I'll be rushing to Currys after work!

I'll give the firmware update a go, it's an original Xbox I've been having the issues with not a 360. When I had a 360 that too displayed fine on the TV, like I said everything else I've used on the TV has been fine, PS2 & 3, Xbox 360, WD TV etc.

The A656 has higher specs - 100hz for example, to help with motion blur.

Not sure on the stats but the one you mention is a 6 series, this is a 5 series. The 6 is the next model up, I'm guessing it has 100hz, higher contrast ratio, handles 24p better and 1 extra HDMI port.

How much you seen the 6 series for?

Sounds like a bargin. Great Price

Can anyone help me with the picture settings for this tv? Hoping someone could send me their preferred settings. I've had one for a couple of months now, Great looking tv, picture is pretty nice, a little bit on motion judder noticeable on some games though,

i was writing my post when you posted above me, thanks anyway

I note that this TV is not 100Hz-capable. In order to fully benefit from playing PS3 games/playing BluRay movies, would fellow HUKDers advice that I buy a LCD/Plasma with 100Hz technology? Or are the differences minimal for the aforementioned purposes with a non-100Hz TV? Many thanks in advance to those who reply.
