Amazon are selling the LE40A616A for £639.99 - apparently this is the same as the LE40A656A - just which the cosmetic difference of a rose black frame.

It isn't quite the same, hence Amazon are selling the LE40A656A for £759.99 it is a budget end model and isn't the same picture quality in my opinion. It has a lower contrast ratio (30,000:1) less HDMI inputs etc.

You're right - I've had a look on the Samsung webpage and the contrast ratio is less (33,000 to 1 v 50,000 to 1) and I don't think the 616 is 100Hz either.

think the sony 40w4000u is a better tv although not 100hz. but still a good deal for this

does this price include the £20 P+P :?

I didn't check, but hey, do it through quidco and you get £20 back anyways ;-)

They'll be giving LCDs away soon!

This deal may be good, I dunno, so I've not voted (yet).
But I read some advice recently from an "expert" on buying flat panel tv's, and he claimed that DYNAMIC contrast ratios quoted by manufacturers were genuine bullsh@t due to the fact that there isn't even a way of measuring DCR reliably, much less an agreed standard to compare these non-existant measurements.
Anyone know if it's worth considering DCR when choosing a tv?

I'm waiting for OLED lol
