Original Poster

the "code" wont work, if the item is unavailable, try doing collection, at another location, and see if that works, and then ring them up and tell them to deliver at the location you want, it worked for me, also the code only shows the discount when your at the credit card stage.

7-10 days due

i bought this one in july and its brilliant.

m87 is the update model of m86 also the firmware which was causing some users problems has been updated in the batches from mid june onwards.

The standard tv /dtv is notch better than on say the sony w and x series because its contrast ratio is 15000:1 twice as much as sonys...comparable to plasmas.

It also has 3 hdmi slots!

I was in comet the other month (when i bought it)and they had the 1080p range side by side and had some live sport showing on standard tv and it was the best one out of the lot.

The only thing it fails on is that the sound on this not has good as the sonys...
samsung have spread all their cost on the picture over the quality of the sound and made a matching home cinema system to buy seperate.

but for how much it is ..its worth it.

voted hot by the way

That's dynamic contrast ratio, which is a meaningless and deliberately misleading marketing term. Real contrast ratio will probably be 1000:1 or 1200:1 - no LCD has more than 1500:1.

Does anyone know if empiredirect are supplying the P7 version and the latest firmware?

i heard they are supplying the newer batches of televisions from avforums.com.... you can place an order then just call them to confer.... They are good over the phone from experience.... And they know about the known faults with the older batches.... [cos I originally ordered from there but then got it from apollo2000].....

And the m87 being an update of the m86 can you tell me where you get this information from?

And looking at all the screens in comet/currys is not the best viewing as they are normally setup by hillbillies.... Well at least the 6 stores near me.....

yes, went with my mate to pick one up 2 weekends ago and it was the latest batch.

Apparently all batches from mid-june onwards are p7

true

dynamic contrast on the x and w series is 8000:1 though.

depends how you gonna use the tv

carltonbale.com/200…os/

to add this telly has a static contrast ratio of 1700:1

I know what you mean, I feel like crying for all those poor HDTVs having to display an SD signal feed which is being split between about 50 TVs - if they had a proper video distribution system feeding each TV a proper 720p signal I'm sure far more people would pick one up there and then.

John

So tempted by this, that 1080p support sure would be nice! Voted hot

i bought one of these when it first came out and i have had no problems at all, its the best lcd tv ive owned. (ive had a few)

Well I was all geared up to order one of these today, forgot to take my cards to work with me so couldn't order one this morning and then guess what it went out of stock at lunchtime! Bloody typical

Not just that... Most of the tvs need to be proffesionally setup [picture wise] to get the best possible picture... Like going though the menus and changing the reds, greens, hues, tint, contrast, etc.... Out of the box the tvs are meant to dazzle you instead of actually being life-like.... avforums.com is good to getting settings that people use who have such proffesional equipment.... I originally had my settings from there and the picture looked much better and more realistic... Instead of being too bright and everyone looking like they have a bad sun tan....

URGENT

Can anybody get this to work today. Its deadline is tomorrow and I really want one.

I keep getting the message "voucher invalid". Please try and let me know.

Be aware it's gonna be a couple of weeks for delivery now it's gone out of stock

Rubbish! The only difference between m86 and m87 is cosmetic.

I've got one of these LCD's and highly recommend it.

if all else fails costco are selling them for £904 inc 3 year warranty pick up at store

Ordered tonight, rep to the original poster.

Be very careful, empiredirect are showing this as instock but according to someone I spoke to tonight that's a bit 'misleading' and they're looking at 7-10 days before getting new stock from Samsung. They've obviously decided to update the website to show it as instock in order to get more orders (naughty!). Discount or no discount I aren't shopping there if they're capable of tactics like that

yes it is cosmetic difference.. the thin strip at the bottom of telly is chrome instead of black..but it is the update model of m8 series.

I have the m87.. i was referring to an earlier question of problems with this series on some of the sets...the firmware has been updated - serial should say somewhere p7 (or later P8 etc)

unfortunately its not just a firmware upgrade to solve all the problems....

costco have reduced the samsung LE40M87BDX to £822 including a 3 year warranty. there in stock now for collection

Don't know if ]THIS is a good price.. It's £849 including delivery..

not bad but no 3 year warranty
