I have tried to summarise the questions people end up asking on most portable hard drive posts:

Q: Compatible with a macbook ?A: Now using a Samsung 1.5TB with macbook … Q: Compatible with a macbook ?A: Now using a Samsung 1.5TB with macbook pro 2011. Direct USB connection. No problems so far.Q: Does it have it's own power supply?A: It is powered through the USB connection. No power supply required. Just plug and play. Q: Will it work with a Samsung Smart TV so that you can use the in-built TV pause and record functions?A: Yes. For those that do not have a SAMSUNG, the Samsung has a special USB for Disk drives. The previous responder had a disk problem not a TV problem. This drive works on other TVs with a USB socket BUT may need to be formatted as required by the TV (see in the manual). Q: Can i use this to transfer the data from my old laptop (which only has usb 2.0 ports) to my brand new laptop which has usb 3.0 ports?A: Yes you can with no problem Q: Will this drive work with my Xbox One?A: Yep, works fine. Transferred all my games on to it with no problems. Q: Are you able to open this and install it in a PS4? A: see no reason why not, it is simply an additional hard drive. get the ps4 to format it during installation. A: Hi Pere, the way we did it was to format the drive in FAT32 on my laptop, which once connected to the laptop, followed easy instructions to format it. Then connected to the PS4 and it was straight up and running. Hope this helps. Cheers Paul Q: Can it be attached to a network hubA: It certainly can - its exactly how I am using it. I have it connected to the USB connector of my Bthub4, and it I can now access its contents from any of my computers, laptops and array of Raspberry Pi's. (I only have to 500GByte capacity) Q: will this be comaptible with windows 10?A: Hello, yes the drive is an external USB 3.0 drive so will be fine with Windows 10

Wish there was a mandatory comment required for cold voters.... If there is a cheaper way to get these...I do want to know myself.

I actually think that's a very good idea. But I think you didn't do any research at all for this deal.
