how does this compare to a dell mini 9?

I have one, a great little machine.
Hot.

1" bigger screen for a start
Another is the lack of a Dell logo - replaced by Samsung!
What goes on inside is something for you to research. You could start by reading here:

If you buy from their ebay outlet, you'd better pray nothing ever goes wrong with it.

I have one myself, good little machine

Haven't had any problems and I've had it for a few months.

Nice little machine, good price, although it was cheaper last year.

I am sure I would really recommend it on quality. The battery is decent (4h of use is more like it), but the charge indicator is very unreliable. I have seen it jump from 75% to 9% within minutes.

And the CPU is certainly out of date. A modern N455 would use a lot less energy for the same job (without necessarily being a lot faster).

So I would try to get a more modern netbook, which start at just 20 pounds more.

I agree.

Is this REALLY an Argos outlet - or - some company just using their name on Ebay?

CAVEAT EMPTOR....... big time

I would vote this hot as it's a great machine for the price, it's just the retailer that lets it down.

hot. have some heat.

Had mine a year and it's nice. Samsung quality on this one isn't quite A1. They made the powerswitch as cheaply as humanly possible...if you can find specific replacement parts on e-bya its going to be a fairly common problem. Mine went just outside the guarantee.

Not bad for the price but there are better machines out now for just a few more quid.

what are these better machines you talk of for £20 more? thanks

I bought n510 on Ebay for 175 am really happy, had before some acer , ION makes a big difference.

A great little machine. My higher spec laptop died last summer so bought this as a cheap stop gap for £149 from Argos outlet and never bothered getting a newer one as fulfills all my needs and I even do video encoding and DVD/CD ripping etc with a samsung external DVD writer and the usual surfing and also use iTunes etc for my iPhone so you can't go wrong really.

Try this one: hotukdeals.com/dea…093 . I am not saying that is the deal to get - I just want to point out that for a little more money you can get a modern netbook instead of one with technology from 2009.

Regardless, from what I've heard it's a couple of blokes in a warehouse full of old stock, so it's nothing like buying from their normal retail outlets. There is no customer support, technical or otherwise.
And if you want a refund for anything, good luck in getting it (even if they agree to refund you, people have waited weeks, or even months for their money back).

I'd buy basic household goods from them (which I have done), but I'd never buy electronics etc from them.
There were masses of complaints and people petitioned to have the outlet banned, but seeing as ebay make a fair bit of money from them, that's never going to happen.

It's a good thing you didn't say that's the deal to get, as they're all out of stock :|.

yeah that one seems to be out of stock, anyone else got any recommendations? (sorry if this is the wrong place to ask).

this one certainly looks alright though, i'm going travelling and just want sometime to skype, upload photos and generally use the web with really.
