Good price

we use these for work at home laptops....
cheap and cheerful...great value!

Would it work with office and photoshop? And how does ubuntu run on this?

Heat added from previous post and advice from you!

Bought one of these as a refurbished unit earlier this year. Can thoroughly recommend it as a netbook. It's a fairly plain slab of black plastic and (like me) wont win any beauty contests but build quality, initial set-up and Samsung provided software are all first rate. The excellent keyboard is especially good. I've not bothered upgrading the ram to 2gb as it does everything i want using 1gb and it's plenty nippy enough for me. Use it for surfing, bit of wp and the odd spreadsheet. Plays BBC iplayer no problem and after downloading some (free) codecs, plays 720p video just fine. Not measured the battery life but think its about 3 -4 hours for what i do.

Just one thing to be aware of. To save money, Samsung install only one internal speaker. It's just about ok for listening to voice but forget about using it for music. Plays stereo through the audio out of course. Not a deal breaker IMHO.

I'm sure it will run Office and basic photo editing with no problem but l would certainly consider upgrading the ram to 2gb and in any event wouldn't want to use it for more intensive processing applications. I can recommend the N130 but at the mo, at this price point, there are plenty of other offers about for similar and sometimes slightly better specced notebooks e.g better battery life. The netbook sector appears to be a wee bit in the doldrums at the moment. Announcements about mobile phones and tablets are coming thick and fast but the basic standard netbook configuration hasn't changed much at all in the last 12 months. Until it does (e.g power efficient dual core cpu, HD graphics and HD video out), l personally wouldn't spend a pile of money on a netbook.

It will run Office, but really needs the 1GB upgrade for Excel and PowerPoint. PhotoShop is a different story if you want more than basic photo editing; it relies on a combination of RAM and pure processor grunt that netbooks just don't have!
