Looks good.

I bought this 2 weeks ago when it was £620. Disapointed it is reduced another £20 in 2 weeks but not disapointed with the laptop. Very nice looking and the screen alone is worth it. Very sharp at 1080P and perfect with the blu-ray drive for films.

I'm sure on 16'' screen difference between 1080p and 720p is huge

Posted twice before. I got this at £599 and it is FAB!!!

Always hot!!

I know what youre saying, theres no point in 1080p on a 16" screen.....but the desktop environment would benefit from such a high resolution, if you can read the text that is

"I'm sure on 16'' screen difference between 1080p and 720p is huge "

Depends how close you sit to the screen. At a few inches its probably bloody uncomfortable but I bet you can tell the difference.

High screen res if setup properly is more important than most things. CPU , Optical , HDD , RAM.

Anyway, is the the geforce 9200M any good? I want a laptop with support for Nvidia VDPAU video acceleration (and a little gaming)

Take a look at optimitza.cat/new…50/ for the answer.

Clue, you're going to have to look a long way down the table to find it.

Guess this gets pretty hot! (the laptop, not the deal which is also hot, owait)

The difference will be like night and day. Think how much more useable screen real estate you wil have by using a 1920x1080 screen as opposed to 1280x720 - that's a hell of a lot more pixels to play with.

I don't think he took into account the desktop real estate, he was referring to the difference in image quality on watching films, which I agree wouldn't add up to much on a 16" screen. The difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32" screen (unless youre within 2 feet of the screen) is non existent from a sensible viewing range...

good price, i got a sony vaio fw21l for a little bit less than this (£585), only real difference being that it has an ATI 3470 graphics card rather than nvidia one and the screen res is 1600x900 rather than 1920x1080. May be worth considering if your worried about nvidia card issues

is that ATI3470 ok? can you play any games? I have just ordered this for the missus at £385 and am thinking of getting one for myself too if it turns out to be any good, im awaiting its arrival:

Yeah i was pleasantly supprised with it, i dont do much gaming on it as i use my ps3 for that, but it should run most games released in the last few years quite well. Much better than the geforce 7400 I used to have.

I'd much rather have the extra space it affords for applications like Photoshop. Out of interest, if you didn't need the resolution what hardware improvements would you find elsewhere for the same price?

probably a better graphics card, Geforce 9600 or ATI 3650 something like that

Do you know if you get recovery disks or manuals with these refurbs?

Completely agree. To the people saying it isn't worth it, try playing a game like Crysis at 1920x1080 on your desktop, and then compare to 1280x720. Massive difference, and you'll appreciate the difference on blu ray. Sure, if you're sitting 10 foot away (you must have long arms) then I'd agree.

Hmm, this was really hot and now it's pretty lukewarm, but I can't see from the comments exactly why?

Look, I don't mean to threadspoil but this laptop can't compete with the one I posted a couple of days back... and it's £150 more expensive.

Unless you're willing to pay that for the look/brand, I don't see why this has got so much hotter.

hotukdeals.com/ite…357

Btw, this one has the ATI 3650, which absolutely eats fallout on medium settings. The same is not true for the Nvidia 9200.

I suppose in hindsight you're also paying a massive whack for the 1920 x 1080 display. If you do design/CAD and have good eyes that's a huge plus. If you want to do light gaming, it's a big disadvantage. You already have a vastly underpowered GPU and you're trying to drive it at an insanely high native res for very little benefit. Drop it down and you move below the native res, and this affects picture quality.

Plus, the acer is a refurb. You pay your money and take your choice!

If I was a CAD beast - This
If I was a normal user who wanted to play the odd game - Acer

Im not sure to be honest mate, im just trying to find out...but this laptop does look like a bargain, the only letdown as far as I can tell is its display is only capable of 1280x800, so its not good for Blu Ray but it does have a HDMI port, so just hook it up to a TV for a cheap player

there is another thread for:

hotukdeals.com/ite…e=4

which is almost the same model but with 17" screen and 1440x900 res, minus HDMI and a gig of ram. A guy on that post said he received that one with nothing except the cables, so no manual or discs. The lappy came with Vista on it though, not sure if it has a restore partition or not though....Im not bothered about that anyway as Ill put my own copy of Vista on it

for the price i think its awesome, even if it is a refurb! I:thumbsup: just hope its a good refurb

Where does it state that res of 1280x800? If im correct, if it had the HD screen on it, then it should be capable of showing 1080p resolution???

Just bought a refurb from sister complany, Dixons. Great machine except it didn't have the right graphics card in it. I await hte replacement bu am not holding breath.

Got no cd's at all, but it was an HP machine with a partitioned hard drive containing all the gubbins. Also the only paperwork with it was a sheet of a4 with a diagram and a couple of instructions:
1 connect power supply
2 plug in
3 turn on

Gave me a giggle at any rate.

and it has a NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS....

look on acers website or just google the model and youll find other places selling it with more details available on it, it is 1280x800.

I 'think' if you output via HDMI to a tv it will output at full HD, ie 1920x1080. The low (or should I say standard :)) screen res is a physical limitation of the screen on the laptop, not the graphics card

Complete different laptop???

The deal is for the samsung R610, the one above is the Acer Aspire?

Didn't vote because the retail sku NP-R610-FS03UK is cheaper and be upgraded up to this sku for cheaper than buying this model.

ent bad for a full hd, tho i wouldn't mind that extra inch on this one ;-)

thats because i was talking about a completely different laptop...

Banned

This seems like a pretty good deal which whilst compromised a little in processor speed and possibly the graphics the Screen and blue ray for this price more than make up for it. In the MOD we tend to buy alot of Dells and HPs but for my own laptop I went with a Samsung Q70 which has excellent build quality and looking at the reviews this no different.

I wish I had the pennies for this one! Hot deal and ebuyer is normally pretty good as a company.

Nabbed this for £299 on friday!
