Camera is excellent. I took it on holiday recently, it took some great pictures. The camera is packed with great features. The only downfall for me is this lens doesn't provide much zoom at all.

How would this compare to the recently posted Canon EOS M? (£180.00)

great camera i got it from john lewis clearance for 95. like said earlier the zoom is only about 3 x at 50mm

Good question. And the Sony A5000?

The Samsung will better the canon but the Sony a5000 is the best of the bunch

However some canikon fanboi will blindly argue otherwise I'm sure

This is a great deal for the money though as was the canon deal

Can you please tell me if this camera has a timelaps function?

Currently running a Sony NEX5, but looking to upgrade / swap

No timelapse, but a superb camera at the full £200 price tag - provided you can live without a viewfinder.
I was so impressed with mine that I went and bought a Samsung Nx30 & 50-200mm zoom, to give me a complete Nx system.
The Nx3000 goes everywhere with me, usually with a Samyong 8mm fisheye in t'other pocket.
I'm only a club photographer, but regularly win competitions against kit costing megabucks.
Don't be too quick selling-off Lightroom - It's the best accessory I have for sqeezing every drop of juice from a photo: Partickly when you've muffed the exposure

Going to pick mine up tomorrow, is the screen view able in sunlight?

SH*T. I bought this last week at £189 - it's going back.

I'll take it back as the battery hatch lock isn't fitting right - did first time, but not since
But mainly down to the lower price. I will possibly buy at another branch, as it is a decent camera - but not to throw another £20 away at ! X)
Incidentally - can't seem to get the lens off - any assistance would be greatly appreciated ! X)

30mm is the best.

Funnily enough i've got the eos m and like the look of the Samsung as appears to be lighter and simpler to use but TBH i dont think it is significantly better than what i've got. The Canon EOS M although bulkier is powerful, has top notch build quality (it was originally priced at £700+) and takes brilliant photos/videos. The much criticised slow auto focus is no problem to me unless i'm taking the occasional action shot e.g. sports. I couldn't recommend it to anyone who takes action shots regularly. The main three things i dont like are 1) No optical viewfinder (same with the Samsung), 2) No built in flash unit (same with the Samsung) and 3) The LCD display although a touch screen, is fixed which can be a pain sometimes. The recently launched EOS M3 corrects all these features and more but is priced accordingly at £520+. Hope that helps

30mm is the best.

Cheers. Just that Amazon has the 20 at 169, but the 30 is still way over 220 or so

If you are not in a hurry the 30mm dips to £150-ish or cheaper, just keep a look out

beware that this is the sh.tty lens at 20mm-50mm, the better option is the 16-55mm
you have been warned

The EOS m I found far superior to this. This however has a lot of features but ultimately the quality of the picture was no better than those taken by my phone, S5.

Agreed the 20-50 isn't as the 16-55 power zoom by quite some way.

I've got this but found its poor autofocus (contrast only) to be frustrating so have picked up an NX300 second hand to replace it.

I can't believe an APS-C sensor is comparable to a tiny smart phone sensor.

In good light this can take some fantastic photos.

No the autofocus doesn't perform well in low light and you need a wide aperture lens too which the kit lens isn't.

this or a5000?

I've got this camera. Great wee camera. The 16-50 OIS lens is the lens you want IMO, takes some great close shots.

Reading some of the comments on here, make me unsure if i should collect the one I have reserved, Just don not want another item that is crap. It seems on paper to be good, I like the fact it is nice and light, ultimately it is down to image quality. Is this good, I use mainly when out and about during the day?

Bendown- I have the NX30, the NX3000's bigger brother. Same sensor tho. The camera is extremely good and I am sure that you will be please with the results. Save up for a pancake lens, preferably the 30mm and you will have a really compact camera that will product great results. The Samsung lenses, even though are not well known, produce great results are known to do so in camera circles. Do not listen to comments that say the results are comparable of worse than a smart phone, as it is just mis-information. For the price it is a great buy and if I did not have the NX30 I would have gotten one myself. HTH.

No problems. Before you sell the Lightroom, download a trial of Adobe to see if you like it. It is a great bit of software and allows you to do a lot post production. If you feel as though you don't need it then sell it I guess....

Doh, don't appear to have any left now.

It amazes me that people still comment that this can't be as good as ????, as it's only £229 full retail, when ???? is £700.
Cobblers!
It's a damn good camera wot takes prizewinning pics.
Although, mine has the 16-50mm lens.

And No, the screen ain't wondrous in the sunshine, although you can angle it so it's in the shade of a Tilley hat; that's the main reason I bought the Nx30 as well
