Google products is still showing this at £339 at Currys, so a decent price drop by the looks. Lightroom 4 is outdated by a version, ,but still a good £100 worth of software too. Free delivery or collect in store

John Lewis appears to have price matched, but no Lightroom by the looks.

It has good reviews on photography blog website

I have the nx100 which whilst being crap in many situations is great in many others and is a v pleasant alternative to lugging my semi pro sale kit about...have bought the 3000 from JL - was tempted by extra 3 yr warranty for £20 ins accidental damage too but decided against in the end. I'll use the nx300 with the tiny 30mm 1.8 prime lens which is fab and sharp.....

joinedup :the Accessories Included on the John Lewis site state that (Battery, USB cable, power adapter, SEF-8 external flash) are included. could you confirm if yours came with the external SEF-8 flash

Hi peter. The nx100 did. Will be picking nx300 up on sat so won't know til then.... Samsung seem to bundle them so wd be surprised if it didn't....

The currys web also says the external flash is included.

What are you looking for in a camera? Where/when/how will you be using it? What features do you value most?

remember O2 priority is £20 off if your order ≥ £200. So buy an additional item that costs at least 1p to get £20 off!

Was looking for a camera for travelling when i came across this. Cheapest around for its quality.
Picking one up tomorrow.

Many thanks OP! Just ordered for collection today. Will post about flash later on.

Nikon D80 body, 100£ used on amazon. Tamron 18-200mm Lens 130£. Nikon 50mm F1.8 lens 80£. Total 310£ for a much better kit, and the chance to upgrade anytime. Juggle between amazon and gumtree for camera body. Lens you can get new.

Only catch is its 3x the size and the Samsung has much better features incl video for a beginner, its also new and has a warranty. The Tamron 18-200 is pretty rubbish but the prime is good. Totally different cameras.

Thank you for the info.
Looking at a photography course to assist with all the different features, lens, etc.
Always had a point and shoot camera.

This is really useful information. I had no idea I could get a bit of Nikon kit like this. I spent £130 on an Olympus mini dslr on eBay (now have a pankcake lens too for people) . Gorgeous camera, but would have gone for a nikon if someone had laid out the information like this.

Highly unlikely that a DSLR kit is the right choice for someone who clearly admits to little knowledge of cameras.

The entry level Nikon DSLRs (D3100/D3200) have a guide mode feature which guides you through some of the settings and is aimed at newcomers to DSLrs. If you're thinking of getting a DSLR its worth considering. You can get the d3200 new with 18-55mm lens and 70-300mm lens for about £380 from Currys/Jessops (don't buy one now though unless a good deal comes up as Nikon usually have a cashback deal end of Oct for Xmas sales).

This does include the flash and Adobe light room is version 5, not 4 at least it was in the one I got.

CSC is a great concept, I can highly recommend it. But whether Samsung is the right company to buy it from, that is another question.

Try browsing for Sony Alpha 200, pretty much 100£. The awesome catch is that it works with old Konica Minolta A-type lens. The real stuff, made of metal. The kind of lens that dent the pavement when dropped. Old Sony Alphas are basically rebranded Konica Minolta DSLRs. Sony never bothered to change thr mount when they took over. And those old lens are basically free on ebay.
I prefer Nikon because of key shortcuts and button layout.
Nevermind neysayers, it is the lens that take the photo. While differnce in price of different camera bodies actually shows how easy they take a good photo, try to compensate with knowledge. Expensive camera bodies are ment for lazy people. And pros.

Well, I always liked program shift. But with my CSC, I find myself using aperture selection a lot more. As long as you know how and when to go into manual, that is the important bit.

How to use CSDSLR5 in store on collection? I can't add it during reservation process and in story Lady said that this code is not valid.... but it works on home delivery orders

Isn't Sony Alpha 5000 better? currys.co.uk/gbu…tml?intcmpid=display~RR~~

Thank you to OP. Used the O2 priority moments app to get this for £180

Very good deal. Anyway to get an o2 priority code before I go to shop and buy a payg SIM?

PLEASE do NOT buy anything from Currys. Their after sales service is disgusting and their pushy tactics for people to buy their
Whatever Happens policy is appalling, especially when its not worth the paper it's written on. They always try to find a way out of repair, refund or replacement of your item with their carefully thought out terms and conditions.

Their policy should be called:

'' WE DON'T GIVE A TOSS AT WHAT EVER HAPPENS TO YOU AFTER WE TAKE YOUR MONEY''

Can confirm the same, flash in the box and comes with light room 5 as well.

Great little camera and lots of additional lenses to choose from.

Just got it from John Lewis, it does come with LR5 and flash - don't mind not-using Curry's voucher for a chance to avoid Curry's/PCWorld awful "support" (I am not sure this word applies to them).

Both camera and lens are amazing, so light and image quality/shooting experience are superb. I am slowly upgrading over the years from point-and-shoot to pro-sumer to mirrorless and boy every new camera is light years ahead of a previous one (and usually comes cheaper as well).

My first more advance camera (Fuji S20) was £350 yet had tiny sensor and was bulky and slow. This Samsung baby @ £199 is a steal - so small, light yet fast as I mentioned image quality is amazing. Great value for ££ as well - lens alone is selling for £200+ (and worth it IMHO) and Adobe LR5 is £60+!

Very user-friendly and easy to use as well.

Quite possibly the camera deal of 2014.

Hi, I am interested in improving my photography but a real beginner. I want to take photos when travelling and particularly wildlife and plants. Sorry I am unsure which camera is now being recommended? Thanks for any advice.

Just picked one of these up from John Lewis. Is it worth selling on Lightroom 5?

I doubt I'll ever use it.

Cheers.

Got mine from Currys today and came with lightroom 5 too. Another £4 off from quidco too.
