This is the last plasma made by Samsung, it may be 720p but I have the model before this and the picture is great (and I'm comparing against my main 50" Panny 3d Plasma which was 5 stars Best Buy with What Hifi). The price is £249 but there is a code for £20 off and a free 5 year guarantee, I also got free delivery. This will be a belated Crimbo present for my parents who will be delighted. This is a great price and over £80 cheaper than the next best available.

Many seem to regard Plasmas as the Betamax of the TV world. What are their drawbacks?

Usually people will say energy use and that this tv isn't full HD. This model is B rated for energy and the picture is great, also has a football mode for smooth fast action. As far as I'm concerned there aren't any drawbacks at this price point, this doesn't have HD Freeview but I have the older model and this isn't an issue. I have a £600 led in the kitchen and my plasma Sammy has a far better picture. Plasma are smoother and the colours seem more natural to me. Plasma will be a thing of the past in the not too distant future - such a shame imo.

plasma is gone and left...
shame as best pic quality. but cannot do 4k nor curve.. so been dropped..

yes more energy consumption.. but the big manufacturers could not go any further.. so no longer being produced..
parts are hard to get hold of already...
as demand for the last few of these.. esp Panasonic have been bought up and spars to make extras..
this is one of the lesser plasmas but still better than most led..

There are better 1080p screens out there cheaper

Plasma screens use more electric is that true ? Want a big screen for master bedroom

I have one and ask yourself. Where do you get real 1080p? Only with blueray. Youview, Netflix, nowtv are 720p. Tout only need 1080 density over 46". Plasmas smoke led when it comes to blacks and contrast.

For real life everyday viewing this is tremendous.

As for spares, who the heck repairs a 200 TV, bin it and move on

Energy wise I think it is 90w. Depends on the screen back light you select.

I doubt you will get 1080p cheaper outwith the sales and/or unless it's a real budget brand - even the Isis LCD ones were only 40"

Where is the £20 code?

The code was on the Tesco website underneath the TV description. Looks like they've changed the offers now.
