Samsung promotion 48 GB dropbox online cloud storage

Found 12th Nov 2012
Happened to notice this offer when using dropbox. Free online storage 48Gb for a year....i think the basic free amount is 2 or 3 Gb so this could be handy. It allows you to access files from any device with dropbox installed and connected to internet.

It was 50gb when I got my S3 in May, plus one could argue not really a freebie since you need to have purchased a valid Samsung device but heat from me as I have it

Cold because it's not a strict freebie, you have to buy a phone to get it.

i didn't vote, however most people will vote cold since you need to go out and buy a phone if you have not already got a Samsung. so really its a extra that comes with a purchase
Cold. Not free.
I have Siii but I still think this is not truley freebie for those who dont have one.

A freebie should be free for all....

cold from me.,

I have a samsung, and I have the free space
Total space earned 52.38 GB

But as this expires in 1 year I do not dare use the space, and I can not remove the "time limited" space, so in 1 year I could find I am over my limit and have to remove files.

I use my dropbox as a backup of all my photos & my mobile's photos. so really do not want to lose anything.

deals like this are there to get you hooked and then make you pay after the time limited period!

If you only view hot deals then you probably miss out on a lot, learn to use the site better. Probably cold as not strictly a freebie, you need to buy a Samsung product to qualify. Also only for a year so after that you would have to pay. Dont whinge because your getting cold votes, you might think its a good deal others might not. If anything history on here dictates the more you complain about cold votes the more you get

Well the freebie argument is not valid having looked at the other freebies on here, the samsung argument is also not valid due to many other freebies needing a prior purchase...ok it being a year offer could put people off although that could also apply to the free/discounted sky deals etc and yeah im probably whinging as im trying to avoid doing some other work. But if you trully think people only vote the good deals hot and the bad deals cold then you really need to take a better look around the site also. There is the option of not voting..which members are surely aware off. I really think a reason should be given with a cold vote as this would vastly improve the site.

No i dont think only good deals go hot thats why i said if you only look at deals that have got hot you will be missing out. The freebie and needing a purchase ARE both valid arguments. If it was as general as you need a PC, or you need a phone then fine but then when you narrow that down even further to you need to have purchased a Samsung, also then you need to have purchased a Samsung with Dropbox pre-loaded narrowing it down even further thats where the cold votes start coming. The plain fact is many idiots use this site, you can see that when an instore deal one person got gets a couple of thousand degrees. With those kind of morons you wont get any consistency or sense so im kind of glad they dont comment it means i can ignore them a little less. There is just no way of getting rid of them unfortunately . Best way is just to ignore the heat.

Well i had put more effort into arguing on the thread than posting the actual deal which has been rather ridiculous. So ill think ill drop out now and actually get on with some work.
ok, with this argument of "you have to buy ... first so not a freebee, if you have have a voucher for a free item, its not free unless you walk, all free apps must surely go cold and free concert tickets? you must be having a laugh!
Er... Are you actually telling me you don't have a single friend or family member with a s3? Ah cmon!

You just have to log on, stay logged in for a minute and log out. None of your files are left and you get the space you need.

Heat from me

Nope but wouldnt want it anyway i dont want to get used to some storage then have to pay after a year
Think of it as a backup for a year, I've used it to back up photos from my phone which are then sent to my computer folder which are then backed on my external hard drive. Where as before I had to actually plug it in or rely on the pathetic 5 GB iCloud space

Great if you do that but if im using cloud storage it would personally be to avoid local storage. If i have enough local i wouldnt be using the cloud. Just personal reasons but i get what you are saying and if it helps someone out thats the main thing
why do people keep saying "a year", it's already been pointed out the storage is given free for 2 years.

Perfect for storing movies and music for cloud based access, once the two years are up, I will delete the movies and music and go back to the few gigs I already had with db, as well as using the box, google drive, amazon cloud, office cloud and whatever else free cloud based services come along in the mean time (google music for a start)

Actually there are 2 types one without the "out of box experience" which is 1 year and with "out the box experience" which is 2 year. Google music is available now so no reason to use this for music unless you have over 20,000 songs. Movies though i could see people using it for that.
