Product Information
The Samsung PS42b451 has the same great looks as ever but now comes with an even better picture quality.
Brand new 600Hz Subfield Motion technology pulses the picture for superior clarity and even faster response. Wide Colour Enhancer 2 gives greater realism with brighter colour and enhanced colour scale. Once again, Samsung's unique DNIe + picture enhancement system features strongly and combines with 100Hz technology to give clarity, depth and smooth motion. Improving the picture still further is Filterbright - a patented, two-way daylight filter that absorbs external light as it approaches the plasma screen and transmits internal light, clearly increasing the contrast levels and preventing unwanted reflection. Combined together these powerful processors help to give the Samsung PS-42B451 a stunning dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1!
Although no match for a separates system, the PS42b451 boasts a comprehensive audio specification. SRS TruSurround HD offers high quality surround sound effect processing which you'll usually only find on much more expensive TVs. Combined with the "Down firing" speaker system and Dolby Digital Plus, you'll find it gives the Samsung PS42b451 a smooth, spacious sound that's less boxy-sounding than many TVs. Finally, if you're planning to use this plasma TV as part of your home cinema system, then you'll be pleased to find an optical digital output - perfect for the highest quality audio connection to your AV receiver.

In terms of connections, the PS42B451 has everything you'd expect plus more besides. Twin rear-mounted HDMI (and one side-mounted) sockets allow for the connection of 3 High Definition sources, such as an HD-TV box, HD camcorder and Blu-ray. In addition to this, the PS42b451 boasts SCART and component connections for your analogue sources. Furthermore, the PC input makes this attractive TV the perfect complement to your home computer.

Samsung were one of the first TV companies to offer a deep, gloss black finish with curved edges throughout their range and, even today, there are few that do it better. The PS42b451 is still one of the best looking TVs in its class.

Good-looking, packed with features and better performing than ever, the Samsung PS42b451 is set to take the budget plasma market by storm!

Hot Deal!

the richer sounds web descirption of the tv says 100Hz and its not full HD so not a great deal unless their description is wrong

Was wondering why my panny with similar specs would be so much more expensive...

It is HD ready and not full HD.

tbh for just over 50 more you can get a 50" full HD much better. so not a great deal. HD Ready is good but the prices for these TV's are dropping by the day. I would expect more for this amount like the 50" listed earlier far better

:They should change the name of the store to "RICHER SORRY, ONLY AVAILABLE INSTORE SOUNDS " never seen a good deal on here available online. :x

42" I would want full 1080 not 720 to be honest...

Not a bad price but seen better TV's at similar prices on here. Neither hot or cold for me.

yes its true but they have always actually had them instore when i have rung and you save on postage! I really recommend richer sounds, superb shop and very good value 5 year guarantee! just give them a ring

But regards to the deal, 1080p is the norm now, HD ready is a cop out, you want Full HD! especially on a 40"+ screen, I think this will go down again before to long!

maybe you would need 1080 is you sit closer than 8 feet away - but further than this and you wouldn't see a difference even with 20:20 vision

proving you know sod all about TV resolutions.
1080p only of benefit if you have blu-ray or PS3 or intend using the screen as a PC monitor.

for SKY,cable, freeview, even HD, 720p is more than enough.

I would have just said its enough tbh

i use a 50" samsung plasma which is HD ready (720p). Unless you are being hyper critical, the picture is excellent and more than adequate for a living room television (and I DO know a good picture when I see one having installed home cinema systems for 3 years of my life). Anyone voting cold for the lack of true HD either doesnt own a HD screen or is being incredibly an-al (and not in the good way  heh)

HOT DEAL H&R!

It's a good deal, but I want 1080P at that size. Still a good deal for ppl who can't tell the diff between 720 and 1080 though. Voting hot.

It will do for now for SD sources but everything will be HD eventually so you might aswell be ready now!

PS3 and blu-ray are becoming very popular and if you dont have them yet you want the option that when you do get one you can make the most of it! Blurays will be common as muck before too long so you might as well get 1080p now.

you odviously got a 720p tv and are trying to justify your mistake to yourself!

But lots of people say that the 720p/1080i sets are best for watching SDTV so if thats what you watch most then it would be ok to stick with 720p.

Well, to be picky, the HD broadcast resolution is apparently set to be no higher than 720p for a very long time indeed. There are no indications that 1080p will ever be broadcast that I have seen.

However, 1080p is great for Blu Ray and gaming where supported. Good price, but I would prefer to have 1080p, as I do sit closer than 8 feet.

i agree with your post, i personally prefer 1080p as well but this tv is really cheap even tho it is 720p thats why i submitted the deal. Is anybody going to buy this tv?

i bought this tv recently for 599.99. love it 720p 100hz, im using ps3 in 720p, sky hd in 720p, and is perfect for normal freeview. and i ve been selling tvs for over 8 years. you like it buy it you don't then buy a 1080p set and watch 720 x 576 picture!!

nope!
i have a full 1080p 37" LG 5010 thats being used with blu ray and as a PC monitor.

standard def though cable box, not as good as it could be.

for people who dont have any HD sources. 720p is fine.

Spot on.

And for those that do have full HD sources, 1080p is fine. I don't get why people struggle to absorb this concept really.

1080p is better in theory but the quality of the set also makes a difference. It's similar to the megapixel thing with digital cameras, more pixels does not always mean better images. I have a Pioneer 720p plasma and a Panasonic 1080p plasma the picture is defiantly better with the Pioneer and I include gaming and Sky HD in this.
1080p does mean more detail but that isn't always a better picture especially when buying a cheap plasma/LCD. A lot of people just want the satisfaction of saying the have the latest technology without actually noticing much difference just to say they have the latest equipment. I am not saying 1080p isn't better, there are just other factors as well.
For what it is this is a good value set, just a word of warning to anyone who does go for this set, it only has ONE SCART CONNECTION.

True but people buying may have old consoles/video/dvd players SD Sky or Cable TV, was just a warning thats all. I bought this set for my parents a few weeks ago and the one scart was a little limiting for connections without changing other equipment as well.
