I agree. I mean who's really going to sit there whilst watching a film or playing a game saying "oh, I wished I'd got a true 1080p as this picture would be so much better"? Exactly, nobody (well maybe saddos). I have a NON 1080p Samsung plasma and cannot tell the difference between it and my friend's Samsung that is 1080p on HD films or games, and I always try to buy quality AV equipment (I am especially fussy on TV picture quality).

Let's watch this thread an laugh as they come out of the woodwork!

lol..I have a 50" 1080i sammy plasma and it is excellent

I must admist though I've said to myself that my next telly will be a 1080p (on the proviso that they continue to drop in price)

I have the 1080p version of this (PS50A558)

Can't tell the difference between picture quality when running it in 720P or 1080P unless I sit *really* close to the screen.

Save yourself the money and get a 720P instead

If you don't care about the resolution why buy an HDTV at all?

For a 50" TV the maximum quality would be very low.

voted cold..excludes delivery cost

You can't "switch" resolutions like with old CRTs - plasmas/lcds only ever run in one resolution. If you feed them anything other than their native resolution, the set up/downscales it to size.

I personally wouldnt touch samsung tv's with an invincible bargepole.

Its 50 inches and not even 1080p.

All plasma is COLD (until you touch it and see the power it uses)!

Under£700 for a 50 incher bargin

you obviously havent seen a pioneer pdp or read the reviews for one

if plasmas were so bad why do panasonic prefer them? anyway power consumption on a plasma is dependent on whats being displayed, for darker scenes plasma has better power consumption

now out of stock

I missed out on this deal but have found a similar deal, 50 inch Samsung but with free delivery and 5 year guarantee teleland.co.uk/ite…tml, is this the same tv or a good deal?
