;-)

I prefer LCD I pass it on to some one who like PLASMA

Banned

I had the exact same model a year ago and i forget how many times it needed repairing, in the end i told the company (Currys) that i was fed up so they let me swap it for a LCD. Personally i would never buy a PLASMA again (That wasn't the first experience with a PLASMA).

Remember, you get what you pay for !

in the office at home, more of a games room I suppose. may try an LCD or even an LED next. Bit big for the bedroom this one though

Your problem is specific to this model or any plasma in general? Personally, I own 37" Panny LCD but all my mates say Plasma is better than LCD :?

Panny plasma's are the bee's knees.

What's this like for watching fast moving things?

I want one to watch sports through Sky HD, will i experience ghosting?

Will admit I'm not big up on the techno, however is 100hz not rather piddly by todays standards! my mates telly is 600hz.

something the human eye will never be able to catch up with! (then again they have started making HD contact lenses!!!!!)

If you're after sports/games... its LCD
if you're after movies especially with the lights dimmed.... Panny Plasma all the way!

Should be OK with 100 Hz. Mine is 50 Hz and I do notice ghosting sometimes with fast moving scenes. But now 600 Hz is also available in the market which makes it all the more attractive. I never seen one though.

600hz subfield just means the screen is divided up into 6 segments of 100hmz. The telly is still 100hz, just another way of confusing the buyer into thinking they are getting more than a competitor - you are not.

ive got 37" panny plasma which is great , this is probably good tho

Got one of these in my bedroom, simply awesome - gonna order another for the living room.

(i have a 37" panasonic plasma too its really good!)

the samsung 530 is a decent tv and shouldn't experience ghosting on images as long as it is setup correctly. the whole 600hz thing is a bit of a trick but it can make a difference mostly on sport to eliminate the ghosting effect even more. plasma's never suffered from that anywhere near as much as lcd's anyway.

my only criticism with samsung tv's in general is the volume, they are never very loud (when compared to a pansonic tv for example) so get a half descent surround sound sorted and its a great setup.

From the looks of it I think this supports the 600mhz subfield

I'm pretty sure this is good value but not sure whether to buy or not as i'm looking for a 50" screen

The vast majority of experts say Projector>Plasma>LCD.

Although LCD's have come a long way lately so i'm not sure if this is still true.

Although I suspect this may change when LED tv's are mass market next year.

Can i wish everyone Merry Christmas.

I purchased this television from Dixons two weeks ago For £595 as a christmas present for my husband,
He is very pleased with the picture and easy setup. It was well worth the money.
He cannot wait to watch the world cup next year .

That's all due to Samsung build quality, not the fact it's a plasma, dummy.

Plasmas are still better than LCD's, and that's not going to xhange until OLED technology becomes mainstream.

However that will still not stop uninformed people like you from spreading falso info based on ignorance I guess... *sigh"

Does this do 24p properly?

Again... what absolute rubbish. PLasmas have a 0ms response rate similar to a CRT... they generally do not suffer from motion blur or smearing... EVEN THE BEST LCD's DO SUFFER FROM THAT! Plasmas are and always have been better for sport and gaming... and movies.

*weeps at the amount of rubbish posted here*

omg will the LCD vs Plasma flame war ever end?

please get over your differences and realise that you are both human at the end of the day.

Great deal, i have one of these and love it. Huge post here:

Definitely the best set in the £500-700 range. One minor quibble is the greyscale/gamma really benefits from a (colorimeter-based) calibration, but once you've done that the image quality is outstanding.

Happy Christmas, out for a drive in the snow now.....

I can't find anything in the manual about 24p, so it probably doesn't support it. Damn shame

I've bought two TV's (an LG PLasma and Samsung LCD) that both said they do 24p. What they do is accept 24p but don't actually render it as a multiple of 24hz so it's pointless. I can't find anything in the manual that even mentions 24hz so I doubt it'll do it properly. There doesn't seem to be much info on avforums and the usual sources either. Can anyone confirm this can indeed do 24p properly?

Not sure if this answers your query; samsung website mentions something like "600Hz subfields manages to show 10 subfields per frame which eliminates flicker in 24p mode."

Seems a great price to me for anyone who missed out on the Bennetts tv.

dont be too hard on what people think they have been carefully brainwashed by the people who make these to think a) they must have it b) all these extras will make such a difference to there viewing, but i bet if 10 of you stood in dixons looking at screens the opinions would be so mixed, its based on what u see and what u like, ive had the same plasma for 4 years now perfect picture no problems whatsoever so these silly myths we are being told about are simply that myths i mean if one bmw rolls out with a faulty seatbelt doesnt mean every bmw is the same, so stop being brain washed and think for yourselves, if anything listen to forums like AV listen to real people with real reviews and stop listening to paid for avderts....

+1

we are just pawns to the marketing men - not many of us have the time or the energy to look too deeply into every single thing we buy.

But after 6 months of waiting and reading AVForums etc I eventually bought a Pioneer Kuro 50" plasma for £1699. It's 'only' HD Ready but all of my friends are absolutely gobsmacked when they see it - especially the ones who crow about their 1080p LCDs!

Everything looks fantastic whether it's Freeview, Bluray or PS3 - no judder, no smearing and amazing inky blacks and natural colours.

I've had it over a year now and I'm still impressed every time I watch it.

Voted hot!
Not as a telly but a very classy designer radiator

its so true. people are being told such stupid things about plasma's just cos the sales people in stores want to sell you the more expensive lcd or led sets to them. on a larger screen tv plasma is the only logicial way to go. better for sport, movies, gaming, general tv, even better as a pc monitor.

lcd's suffer ghosting and other grey shadowing so much easier.

this doesnt include the stand
