Go easy on me, I know some of you may think its alot to pay, you can buy the cello 47" for under £400, but this is a brilliant plasma with rave reviews.

I don't think anyone could compare a cello to an 8 series Samsung, don't worry!
Top quality TV. Not just saying it because I have one. For the money...not easy to find many better 'quality' TV's.

Good things about this TV inc:
Almost as thin as an LED
Great looking Silver Bezel
Doesn't easily suffer image retention (unlike previous C7000 model)
SMART web functions
& Great picture!

Yeah, definately brilliant Plasma...For those worried about pricematch, Electrocentre dont do the warranty for free you have to pay an additional £300, I managed to get 3 different pricematchs because they dropped the price so often...I was suprised that JL didnt question the fact that you had to buy the 5 year warranty from Electrocentre....

I missed out on the bank holiday price drop at the Electrocentre, they dropped it down to £789 with the 2 free glasses...well still worth it.

Great deal and great tv....

A 47" Cello 3d tv at £349 is a great deal and has its market the same as this but both are deals and it is not just about cheap, cheap, cheap but deal deal deal....take some heat.
i was told by a shop assistant that plasma tvs use a lot of electricity compared to led tvs. do they use a lot more? im really tempted with this.

From AV Forums

Energy Consumption

For a reasonably large plasma the PS51D8000 is surprisingly energy efficient, although due to the self-illuminating nature of the technology the power usage varies depending on the content being shown on the screen. The consumption figures in Movie Mode using 0, 50 and 100 IRE windows were 85 watts, 99 watts and 180 watts and the PS51D8000 used less than 1 watt in standby. The average power consumption when watching actual full screen material in Movie Mode was about 240 watts which is quite good.

Hope that helps

Heres the touch screen remotehttp://i47.tinypic.com/f2si6s.jpg

I'm surprised Apple haven't sued them for that as well.
Heat added by the way!
Excuse my stupidity but will they price match this over the phone and honour the touchscreen remote deal if i phone in the order for collection tomorrow?

You have to submit via email, once confirmed they will send you an email with a reference number on. You have to call the customer service number after the item has been delivered and quote your price match reference number then JL will refund the difference.

You could buy it now and submit the pricematch, you dont need to tell them about the pricematch when your ordering.....hopefully youll get the reference number before the delivery,

Hope that makes sense.

Just the bank holiday weekend gone electro centre dropped this plasma for £789 till Sunday 6th, I sent JL the link because they were busy over the weekend they saw the link on Monday by then it was £829....would have been another £50 saving
JL won't price match with the touch remote. They will price match just on the tv.

@Judderman

If you look at the JL website you've got the same Plasma listed twice, exactly the same 2 free 3D glasses nut one has the addition of the touch remote; this ends today. I have got the pricematch for the plasma with the only the 2 3D glasses, but have ordered the one with the touch remote.. hopefully when it comes to giving the reference code for the cashback they would be none the wiser
@homeoffice2020
Fingers crossed for you. They price matched me as well for £789 but they mentioned no touch remote.

You must be new here. Members here will regularly compare items hundreds of quid apart in price as if they're comparing like for like.

It works both ways as well. You'll get someone asking why buy this TV when a Cello is half the price and the opposite, you post something cheap and someone says "You should get this model instead, it's much better" and it turns out to be £100 more.

Cold. Not a great tv. Not really a 'deal'. You get what you pay for. Fine if you have low standards.

Before people spout shoddy reviews etc. We've done this many times before.

That one at £749 is a clearance item - graded stock, so not like for like, therefore JL will not price match

The price is now £839

Can people who own this Tv use a touch screen phone to control it

for example a phone like a Samsung Galaxy S2

Bought one last week -£829 J Lewis price match - top TV
Perfect then, - my homeplug and gigabit switch to the Htpc and Tv and Sky HD Box for anytime are right under the tv, current Sony tv has a wired lan connection. Thanks
guv

Yes - but the TV needs to have a wired connection to your router / switch … Yes - but the TV needs to have a wired connection to your router / switch and your phone connects via WiFi. You need a connection anyway to make use of smart TV (eg for apps and updates, iPlayer, Lovefilm etc)

I have this TV connected wirelessly to my router and I can use the samsung remote app on my android phone to control it
Plasma? No thanks once youve had led theres no turning back so its a cold from me.

Really? I personally found that once you have a good plasma there is no going back. Not saying your wrong it just goes to show the diference in opinions I guess.
It would be useful to describe what the product is in the title rather than just giving a code name which will be meaningless to the majority.
Have some heat for the deal.
How does this fare compared to panny Tx -P50GT30b or VT model
I have the d6900 plasma the one below this one great tv and is 10x the cinema 3d lg led I had before, no banding, edge bleed, just a great consitent quality picture John Lewis are great to deal with too.
Im not sure how but JL made a mistake with my pricematch so i paid £719!!! Got the tv and now got the refund.... very happy!!!

Nice one :)... I ordered mine with the touch screen remote got an email 5 days later saying they wouldnt honour price match as the Electro centre weren't doing the touch screen remote, they wanted me to pay £1199 so that I could have the remote. I reluctantly cancelled my order, I sent them an email complaining that it was abit unfair that I should pay £1199 when they had price matched the tv and the remote only retailed at £99...well just waiting for a response....

I also spoke to customer services to cancel and even she said it was abit pathetic but that was their policy, they also debited my account twice taking out £2400 and on top of that they originally booked for the 19th for delivery, had a call from the delivery firm city link that they had to change delivery to Monday 21st....bit of a farce considering all the stuff I've heard about John Lewis oh well see what they have to say

Price drop again @ Electro Centre

NEW PRICE £824.95
I think i just got lucky. Before the bank holiday weekend they price matched at £819. Id not yet ordered so when it dropped to £789 for one day only I called to see if they would match again. The pricing department was closed so the guy i spoke to sent and email and said i would get a response on Tuesday. I then received an email on the Tuesday confirming £719??? I didn't mention this price to them. Makes you wonder how well sometimes they check the prices?!
