I thought this tv would boil over in 2 min yet it’s still only 143 degrees!

can someone clarify the difference in the last letter in the name as per above posts?

thanks
Does this have the one connect box?

Does this have the one connect box?

No it doesn't. Or at least the one on newtowabbey doesnt. It's the D. It's last one from display only he told me.

There is the q8fn and Q8DN the FN is edge lit. The DN is full array local dimming which is generally considered better and a more expensive tech hence why the DN does not come with the one connect box to keep prices down.

Also just to confuse things further the q8fn in the USA is our Q8DN so if you check reviews you need to know which one they are refering to.
Actively looking for QLED, not desperate (2 months until I need one). Anyone recommend me getting this or waiting out?

If you want QLED at this size, I'd say 100% go for this.
The difference is that this one (Q8DN) has full array local dimming, the other one doesnt

If you can lay your hands on it for this price and want this size, then absolutely get it.

I'm going to check my local Curry's in an hour or so.

This TV will also have the Apple TV app with a firmware update. I'm debating it for that as a 4k apple box is £140 odd. It's just that there's no Dolby vision

That one's the FN model, so wouldn't have local array dimming.

Just enlarged your picture and noticed it's the q9! That really is an insane price. Anyone near Lowestoft needs to get that bought.
colsey8507/06/2019 15:27

It does it's the the Q9!!!!

Good point. At that price I didn't even think to check if it was the Q9!

Hold my beer - I'm off to Curry's!!

That's a bargain for the Q9
I saw a similar one in Curry’s in Didcot and was going to get it but the guy said it was the display model that was this price and it was the only one they had.

Didn't get it as I thought the screen life would be significantly depreciated, on for 10 hours a day for however long it’d been on display for.

Good price, just wasn’t prepared to take that gamble.

Yes they are display models. Could have been on 10 hours a day for a year!

So this deal is a second hand telly for nearly £800 with no way of knowing how many hours it’s been used for and it gains heat?
Just got one. Direct Full Array screen and all. Great price.

5 year guarantee, also.

LCD TVs dont really care about usage time, its not organic material so it doesnt degrade to anywhere near the same extent as an OLED. With a 5 year warranty you dont have to care either.

so if you don't need to worry about the screen what about the other components? dried out capacitors on the power supply for example and not sure where the 5 year warranty from a second hand TV from Curry's come from?

You would still get a 5 year warranty from curry's as they give these when selling high end TVs

5 year guarantee still applies.
Bought this Q8 in New Malden earlier today (display model 5yr warranty). Also had a Q9FN for £999. Really pleased with it!
