Verdict from Trusted Reviews
The Samsung Q7 is seriously impressive, and I can see QLED holding its own against OLED for a few years yet. Its advantages significantly outweigh its flaws, and I’m super-impressed by its handling of brightness and colour.

The original poster didn’t bother to post links to reviews and got -51. Shows that going to a little bit of effort results in much better up voting.

Sony KD-49XE9005 much better TV on sale at £999.

Can i ask why you consider the Sony XE9005 much better . I’m very close to buying this TV but having seen side by side with the Samsung Q7F , the Samsung honestly looked considerably better and got me torn.

This Tv tops the resent which Buyer guide ....

The Sony has full array LED compared to the Samsungs edge-lit LED, full array is regarded as better. You get better blacks and less bloom. It all so supports 120Hz at 1080p for PC gamers.

Been waiting for this to drop. Has anyone used PRC before? Can’t say I’ve heard of them

What environment did you see them in and were they set to the same settings and showing the same content?

Retail shop showing same content but totally different OS can really replicate same settings. Samsung screen just stood out as much brighter and more punch. Totally threw me -- i hear loads of hype for the xe9005 and great reviews but i was disappointed in the few stores i viewed the XE9005 in the last few weeks even compared to the LG55SJ850V/950. I take it your a big fan of the Sony XE9005 , would you have it before all the sets i mentioned?

I have a 9yr 720p samsung and I'm interested in the xe9005 also... But these flag ship qleds are becoming more and more attractive at this price... What are we all going for?

Yeah, the settings don't need to be exactly the same but they should be comparable.

Brightness and vividness is often a very misleading aspect of picture quality in shops because the ambient lighting and TV settings are nothing like what they'd be at home.

Proper AV shops with dim lighting can sometimes offer decent comparisons in that area, but I wouldn't base any decisions based on what it looks like in the average tech shop. Those sorts of displays are more useful for comparing aspects like upscaling quality.

If I wanted to buy into HDR now I think I'd go for the next level up. An XE93 or B7, maybe the incoming Philips 8602 if it's well reviewed. They seem to be the sweet spot right now.

I haven't stood in front of and looked at the SJ950 but given it's IPS panel and bottom lit-only local dimming I'd be surprised if it can create sufficient contrast for good HDR.

As for the XE90 vs. Q7 they're similar enough that you could justify the Samsung at the same price, but many reviews who've had the chance to see both under controlled conditions seem to feel the Sony is ahead in picture qualiy.

This is better than the XE90, the Q7 is more comparable to the XE93.

Right now the rankings for the top end TV's would be

Sony OLED
LG OLED
Samsung QLED Q7/ Sony XE93
Sony XE90

Not really, I would have a W7 over anything else on market.
Saw both these models in store yesterday, q7 much better in my eyes and that was at £999 for Sony &1249 for Samsung

People are unhappy with the Samsung offerings this year.

The Samsung QLEDs are basically a rebranding of last years KS 7/8/9000 series which was a great TV at great value. But what theyve done this year is renamed this series "QLED" and jacked up the price by about 40%.

As a result TV enthusiasts have gone cold with Samsung because in some aspects its an inferior TV at a higher cost than their 2016 range.

I went with the 60sj850v, on sale for 1099, because of one area not discussed..picture viewing area. I have chairs around my living room and they all get a good view of the picture on LG vs xe90 that is quite limited and good for only those sitting directly in front. Also Dolby Vision support.

I disagree with the Q7 being a better tv than the XE90. The Sony with its back lit screen gives better blacks than the edge lit Samsung.

Very impressed....Amazing TV picture & colour. ..just viewed @ currys. Priced £1299 there . Remote is sleek. Definitely recommend a viewing . Have purchased through Richer Sounds ib the end as they price matched .

I'm still torn between this and the oled55e7n (which i can get for £1499 after cashback right now), just trying to work out whether it's worth the extra £500.

So the xe90 would be better than the q7 for Xbox one x use ? And is it 10bit? I seen the q7 the other day and couldn't believe the crispness and picture quality, i was blown away (Although im used to a 8 year old Toshiba piece of crap so anything will look good)😁

If you go through Quidco you can get £100 off today & tomorrow plus get the 450 soundbar to sell.

Any OLED tv is better, but more expensive because it's new technology. QLED is just a repurposed marketing ploy by Samsung. Better than traditional LED, but still not a massive leap, unlike OLED.
