I know I went for this TV as the smallest OLED tv is 55 inches which was too big for me! QLED is the closest to OLED for picture quality and cheaper too so was a no brainer!

The XE93 is a significantly better TV by almost every metric.

your right only one, two letters or a line difference depending how you look at it.

Samsung only branded it QLED to confuse customers.

Incorrect, it's two different technologies (just that oled is a more established and universal technology while qled is Samsung's own proprietary tech). The difference is also noticeable.

There are many videos and articles which show the difference, but what it comes down to is that Samsung's qled has more vibrant colours and much higher brightness (which also makes HDR look better), while LG's OLED does what Oled does best - super deep blacks and fantastic contrast.

Its basically down to preference what kind of image you prefer. But point is that the panels are both different.

It's more expensive though and tbh I don't see the difference and I prefer Samsung's Smart TV platform.
I've been looking at the Sony FX90, but this is very tempting at £999. Guess it depends if I want to wait for the Sony to drop.

Heat added, great price.

no correct, Samsung chose the QLED branding to ride on OLEDs coat tails, simple marketing.

I know its different tech

Except Samsung are the largest makers of OLED displays globally... Even Apple use their OLED screens for the iPhone X. For one reason or another they chose to use qled for their TVs instead of OLED. I suppose they thought oled was best for their phones and qled for their TVs. Who knows.

But the point is that Samsung aren't "riding on the coat tails" of a technology they're already a leader in... LED is a common screen technology which OLED and QLED is based off. Hence they both keep LED in their name. The O stands for organic. The Q stands for quantum, i.e. what Samsung called the quantum dot tech they use to produce the bright colours of their panel.

Just leave it my man he’s clearly a samsung shill xD

Yes QLED is essentially a marketing term for the most part to counter OLED which yes while samsung are the main provider who’s TVs are we hearing about? Oh thats right its LG and Sony OLED TVs . . . Also why wouldn’t they try to up-sell their LED TVs after all they cost less to manufacture same reason LG does the same with their “Nano-cell” TVs everyone has a gimmick to try and sell their TV but apparently he doesn’t get it xD
Hopefully this qled tech at 49 inch comes down a few hundred quid by black Friday. Would love it for my kitchen/diner.

I got mine from Hughes direct clearance site on ebay. Box had been opened but tv and accessories all complete and brand new for £700.

£700 was the most I wanted to spend on a tv!

I saw that! I contemplated it as it was going to be wall mounted anyway! Glad it went to you though! I have an overly cautious girlfriend sadly!

Think this model will be gone by then, its last years model which is why its got as cheap as it has now, I wouldn't expect it to get much cheaper. This years 49" QLED is around £1500 and doesn't look great.

Anyway, for anyone interested Richer Sounds have now come down to the same price.
