Samsung QE55Q7F- £1019 @ Richer Sounds

Richer Sounds are currently knocking out the 55 inch model of this tv cheaper than the 49 inch ones. Code TV80 takes another £80 off the advertised price to get it down to £1019. Picking mine up this afternoon

Currys also have it for £1100 but seem to be out of stock everywhere, plus you get the extra years warranty with RS anyway.

This or sony 55xe9005 for the same price?
I’ve just bought this tv from John Lewis. £969 pricematch. Decided against Sony 9305 and oled b7. I’ve no regrets. Fantastic tv
New generation coming out in 2 weeks, as usual, might be worth the wait. Then again, will come in at a higher price...decisions, decisions.

Is that in store only? Dang, bought mine from Leicester.

How did you get John Lewis price match

John Lewis Birmingham instore pricematch with local shop. Premier A/V Centre. Called up John Lewis and asked to get put through to the AV dept. Chris took my call and concluded deal. Price included free delivery. The tv is excellent and trounces my Panasonic Plasma. The extra £50 from Richer Sounds buys another years warranty so still a good price

Yes. It was an instore match. Remember you are allowed to return yours if it’s still within the 30 day window. It is printed on the receipt. Then worst case buy from Richer Sounds. I think John Lewis were selling at £1199 then £1099 so still a good saving to be had

this.
I considered that Sony and spent hours reading reviews and compare them side by side many times, but the Samsung has better colours and better blacks, and much more modern and sleek design and superior interface.the Sony has buggy and laggy android TV interface which is horrible also Sony has a very outdated and cheap remote control.samsung has 2 remotes, one minimalistic metal which is very nice to feel and use.

This TV is awesome, the best LCD LED TV without any doubt.
the colour and black levels are incredible.
the anti glare coating they sued is also the best in business.
I payed £1200 for it few months ago,at around £1000 it's a no brainer.

Ah they gave me back the 100 difference already so I’m still better off. It’s a lot of hassle to return now. I’ve submitted a price match for this richer sounds price - I doubt they’ll do premier AV since it’s not a local store

I also agree with this I had the same dilemma between the XE90 and Q7F and made the same decision to go for the Samsung.

Next gen still won't be self emmisive like OLED, so will still have the drawbacks of LCD. Maybe in 2020 it'll arrive. That's when it will level the playing field. If a grand is your absolute limit and that extra £19 means you'll be eating beans on toast every day for a fortnight then go for this, as mentioned best LCD set on the market.

I'd reccomend Googling the difference between oled and qled. You'll be surprised by the way Samsung are conning people by relabelling old technology to sound new
Factors to consider before parting with your cash:

The one connect box requires a separate power supply. Two plugs for a TV? That's very annoying. The optical cable that connects it to the TV is absurdly thin.

It's edge lit so this TV will display symptoms common to to this type of screen lighting.

The Samsung QE55Q9FN is everything that QE55Q7F is not! Of course the Q9F has just launched so it's a premium price, but seriously if you must go Samsung then just wait for that to drop in price!

I own the Sony 55xe9005 and I can't really fault it. It's backlit with local dimming and the picture quality is brilliant. Blacks look black, sure not OLED black levels but for an LED they are pretty dam good. The colours are vibrant, but the Samsung does colours better, they are just punchier.

Android TV isn't that bad, yes it doesn't operate as smoothly as Tizen or Webos but it does the job well enough. I've turned off recommended apps to speed things up, and I haven't yet experienced crashes, sluggish speeds, or freezing like some users have described. I have disabled wi-fi though, as I don't use the smart features, maybe that could be a reason.

I've downloaded VLC player for watching movies from external hds. The TV has had no issue with reading any of my external hard drives, and it's cool how VLC saves a movies last playback position.

I wouldn't base your decision on just the speed and fluidity of the OS alone, I too was making this mistake. I'm glad that I went with the XE9005 because it really is a great TV.

I don't think many people would want to disable their wi-fi in order to speed the tv up!
Stick with the Samsung!

Went for the XE9305, almost went for the XE9005. I'd put both on top of the QLED marketing stunt
Got the Sony 55 XD9305 last year from RS and there is a thin dark line down the side of the image going down the bezel but I ain't sure if this is reason enough to complain? Not sure they do this model anymore either, what would they do?

Hi, I would recommend getting Richer Sounds to look at this. Might be the precursor to complete failure. If they cannot fix then they will replace with brand new tv with new 6yr guarantee. The equivalent model now is the XE9305 (2017) or the latest XF9005 (2018).

Hear motion is an issue with this model though mmmmm.....
John lewis price mTch is garbage. They refuse all... Deal here is decent tho
From all accounts (Users and Reviewers) The best LCD is the ZD9, but for a set close to this price its the XE93 that gets the best rating (One reviewer said that its a baby ZD9).

Samsung's 2017 LCD's aren't as good, check the web to see what I mean. This being said it costs more than the Q7F, I would take a XE90 over it though if you want a TV at comparative pricing.

Also no I wouldn't take a OLED, burn in is an issue for heavy users or users such as myself. Check Rting.com to see their burn in series that they do on OLED to see the truth about them.
The 65” version seems to be a grand more. Jesus. I’d want 65-70” for my upgrade from my current 55”. Perhaps I will look at the MU7000 series. QLED I feel isn’t worth the price hike. Hmmmm. I’ll have to see. Also, anyone clarify the difference between certain models advertising HDR, HDR 1000/1500/2000, HDR 10, HDR 10+ and PQI. They just seem to over complicate advertising the spec hierarchy. When I upgrade this summer my budget will probably be around £1600.
Bought this for £1199 at currys a couple of weeks ago, anyone know if they would honour the reduced price if it's within 30 days?

Picked up a 65 inch MU7000 for £1040 from a JL price match. Unfortunately was too big so that’s why I got this 55” Q7F. Now to send the worlds biggest box back to JL...
The Sony Ex9005 55 is a great TV, and regardless of what software any TV has you can't beat a Nvidea Shield for speed, updates etc.. As I've said it would have been a close shave between the 2 as I paid £1049 for the Sony, but after a weeks viewing I'm very impressed with it...

I expect the Sony to drop a bit more in the coming weeks, not sure if Hughes would refund the difference if the price did drop mind you...

Looks like you’re probably out of luck. From currys website: “If you find a major UK retailer has the same product at a cheaper price, we’ll match it - even up to 7 days after purchase“

Richer Zounds price is now £1199.00. Zo not so hot anymore. A beegly shame as I want one. New release version is at a much heftier price according to pre-release adverts.
