Can a mod please leave HW-Q80R in the title and not change it to HW-Q70R
I have bought these today. The HW-Q80R is significantly better than the HW-Q70R. It is identical to the HW-Q90R but doesn't have the rear speakers. It is priced at £999 on the Samsung website but is sold elsewhere for £750. To get this free with the Q90R TV is an absolute bargain.

I had paid a deposit on the Q70R soundbar package but I rang up to see if TV50 voucher would work and the salesman asked which package, the one with the Q70R sound bar or the one with the Q80R soundbar, I asked what the difference in price was and he said they were the same price. It's not on their website though. So I quickly changed my order!!

The Birmingham branch was the one that initially told me about the deal.

I rang two stores and both had the package so it's looks like it's nationwide.

Just spoke to RS telesales. Apparently the Q70 soundbar flew off the shelves, so Samsung have said they were happy to include the Q80 soundbars.
I reserved one for collection Tuesday, wasn't aware of the offer with the Q80. Just phoned the store just this minute and they had said the chap I spoke to, yesterday, has already put it down to come with the Q80 soundbar.

Excellent, I couldn't believe it when I bought mine. I'm surprised this deal hasn't got hotter, people seem to prefer saving a few quid instead of getting a far better system.

The Q80 is quite bit bigger than the Q70, it is virtually the same width as the TV.

I don't really need a TV as got a Q90FN which isn't even a year old but for an extra few quid on top of a Q80 soundbar, no brainer
Yes the Q70 is 110cm and the Q80 122cm, it's also deeper, taller and a lot heavier! It sounds great as well.
I eventually got through to my local RS. They said the same thing as everyone here. The q70r soundbar packages have been really popular so offering Q80r soundbar also. Haven't been able to get to go in-store yet but didn't realise Telesales would entertain this deal!

Now to cancel my q90r TV with q70r soundbar bundle (cheaper at £1419) which gets delivered on Thursday from JL but first RS Telesales.

The Q80r soundbar is wider and heavier because it has side firing speakers also.
Although AVforums rates the Q70r higher

One thing I have confirmed this weekend is that the LG C9 is defo not for me.
Visited a mate of mine yesterday who has the TV and did lots of testing. As someone else said before. For me it seems dim and the screen is very reflective. No doubt picture quality is great though.

I'm having a bit of a nightmare with the soundbar. The TV keeps losing the connection and changing back to TV speaker. The soundbar disappears from the list of options. I have tried 6 HDMI cables so far.

Looks like it is common issue with these soundbars, ever likely they are giving them away!

where did you get this voucher from ? tv50 ? and what does it do and does it work in this shop ? I've bought it as well , today collecting
The said the voucher could not be accepted because it was an in-store exclusive deal.
This deal is genuinely a steal. A superb £1499 Samsung QE55Q90R flagship TV with ~£750 Q80 soundbar! To top it all up, the is a 6 year warranty! This TV is a true contender to the high end OLED TV's which cost more than £1499 without the soundbar! Can't wait to get my hands on this.
It is a steal but unfortunately there is known issue with the Q80R soundbar HDMI where it disappears from the sound options list on TV. It's great when it works but when putting the TV in standby it loses the soundbar. You then have to power the soundbar down and reselect it. Any devices connected to the soundbar will also be lost. I have had mine for 5 days now and I have still not got them working together. This is the most frustrating AV equipment I have ever purchased. Samsung should be ashamed. If I can't get it working by Friday it's all going back.

Maybe a silly question but is the software on the soundbar up to date?
Yes both TV and soundbar are up to date. There are lots of people having the same issue on AVforums. This has been going on since at least June and Samsung have still not fixed the issue. Also effects the 8K TV and the Q90R soundbar.
Does the Q70R soundbar also have this issue?

I don't think it does, the Q80R and Q90R are the same unit, the Q70R is very different.

Ah OK. I am in two minds about trying to get this from my local store. I have an order on for the original bundle of 55Q90R with Q70R soundbar for £1399. Trying to work out if this is worth the difference (plus the fee for them to collect the original stuff or if they have some cancellation fee as actually the order is not due to arrive until Thursday).

My order from rs isn't due till December so called telly sales to try and change the bundle but apparently they have sold out of both?! Told me to call back in a few days but I'm sure the bundle offer runs out tomorow

I have now had the Q80R soundbar connected for 36hours so fingers crossed. Sounds and looks amazing when it is all working.
There is a problem with lip sync issues with the TV and the auto hdmi is so frustrating as well

The TV is just too clever for its own good. If an external device takes too long to power up it just deletes it and you have to add it in again. You can't use fixed inputs. I have disabled Bluetooth and and WiFi sound source and I'm not using the Arc connection on the TV and this is the longest it has stayed connected. I'm only persevering because I got the soundbar for free. If I'd paid for it it would have gone back days ago.

I read somewhere that certain WiFi routers are known for messing with nearby Bluetooth connections. Is your WiFi router close to the soundbar?

As for the out-of-sync issue, you should be able to compensate for that by adjusting the delay in milliseconds in the audio settings of your Q90R. I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered so I can't tell you exactly where to find it but the setting should be there.

Setup 2: OneConnect ARC > Soundbar ARC, Sky HD HDMI > OneConnect HDMI

In Setup 1: after going through the device setup process it was fine. Put TV in standby and soundbar goes off, good. Sky box stayed on as the Samsung remote doesn't appear to control it.
Turn TV on and soundbar stayed off, and TV showed Sky box wasn't not on (even though it was). The Sky box wasn't "lost", it was still shown as a source. Put Sky box in to stand by and then on again and the soundbar came on, and TV was showing video from Sky box.

In Setup 2: everything worked as expected. TV and soundbar turn off when TV put in to standby. TV and sound bar come on after turning TV on.

It's almost as if the ARC pass through for the Sky box is not working properly.

I'll try Setup 1 with a PS4 later and see if the device is recognised after putting TV in standby.

Basically I have had to ditch ARC as it seems very flakey.

When I switch the TV on and off its switches the soundbar on and off. I use the Samsung remote to control the Humax.

The only downside to doing away with ARC is that I lose the ability to play Dolby Atmos.

Yes, with the HWQ80R.

Technically I don't know if I'll get Atmos from the Sky HD box as that is now plugged in to the OneConnect (HDMI 1) port.

But as the OneConnect ARC (HDMI 3) is plugged in to the Soundbar ARC I think I'll have Atmos from Netflix/Prime Video/etc (assuming the content is DD+).

What do you mean by "soundbar disappear"?
