any codes for the 55" version? or q9fn?
Bought from Richer Sounds last week who price matched, beat it by £20 making it £1079 and also provide 6yr warranty! 😁

Hmmm let's debate on OLED vs QLED on a TV post that's edge lit
Great TV I’ve seen this in action and doesn’t disappoint. Great bright colours

no much to debate against a tv that will eventually rot. The screen is made of organic matter

Unless the screen is damaged. OLED screens will last for 100000 hours of viewing. So if your kept the TV on for 24 hours a day that's 12 years
Just bought an OLED TV. Amazing quality and very happy
What's difference between this and series 6 model doing the rounds for around 969 at the moment. I have a 1000 budget for 65" TV but could stretch if this really is noticeably better

Will this TV make the dark scenes in episode 3 of Game of Thrones look good? They were bloomin' awful on my TV!

Unless you watch nothing but 16:9 formatted TV and films, then you'll have noticeable burn in after 1-2 years. The lifespan on OLED TVs is significantly worse than on smartphones.

I remember when the father came along gloating about his brand new £3k LG OLED. Top of the line, 65", "best thing since plasma". It took 6 months of my mother watching Sky News for 2 hours every morning for a nice 50mm thick dark line spanning the entire length of the bottom of the screen to appear.

If the world's biggest OLED manufacturer says the technology isn't suitable for TVs, then you should probably go with it. LG on the other hand can't even make a decent 5" OLED screen.

Any half decent Samsung TV should be fine. LCD TVs will have a better job with that episode, and Samsung's top end VA panels like this model has should be more than enough.

Watched that entire episode on the aforementioned LG OLED, and it was painful. Black crush everywhere, a horrible smeared mess. My old Samsung KS7000 handled it perfectly though.

That's unfortunate. I watch the news, game alot, watch sport on my OLED and it's been perfect. My Mum had a LCD, watched the news for 2 hours a day, watched a bit of eastenders. After 18 months had vertical lines.

OLED - i hate you QLED, you smell of wee

QLED - Well at least i'm not ugly like you

OLED - Dog breath

QLED - Fat face
and so on.
Boy 1: Look I'm cool, I'm George

Is the Q8 worth an extra £400 over the Q7?

Q7 has HDR 1500 (Q6 has HDR 1000) so brighter screen with more detail. And the Q7 is much thinner, it comes with the one connect box which means 1 tiny cable from tv that goes to an external box which houses all connections (power, hdmi etc) so if you are mounting on the wall you can get an awesome flush mount using the Samsung no gap wall mount. Can't do this with the Q6.

Presumably then the Q8 is FALD without the one connect box, then the Q9 is FALD and one connect?
Says code expired
Hopefully in few months this gets lower to under a grand for when new house is ready

You are right. Just looked around and seems the Q8 does not have the one connect box.
I called my local Richard sounds. They could only give me an ex display model at £999. I'm probably better spending an extra £100 for a new one.

Yes but the Q9 has significantly more zones iirc. The Q8DN was an afterthought they rushed out because they were getting a lot of flak for flogging expensive edge-lit models. I would say go for this Q7 (or even the Sony XF90 for a better display if not overall package) or spend the extra for the Q9FN. The Q8DN should be ignored.
