£1199 Dec 27th-29th at Samsung Experience store.
I could not pay £1699 for this knowing it was much lower 2.5 months ago.

I have to remind people!

If you can sell the phone for £400 then it is down to £1299. There will be a glut of these S9 phones soon.

Exactly! Think of the 10 year warranty against screen burn with this.

or you could just use your tv normally , like most of us do anyway. In which case the screen burn warranty is pointless anyway.

100%. It was all discussed in this site. 40% off from Samsung Experience Centre.
You had to go instore.

Samsung Q8D 55” - £899.99 (was £1499.99) + 5 Year Warranty 65" = £1199

if you can sell the phone now, for £400, it is £1299. Not too far off, this stunning DISCONTINUED set!

Gotcha , my bad

You would be surprised how few of us there are who aren't brainwashed by the whole screen burn thing.

That said, these QLED displays are the best LCD technology has to offer at the moment and are comparable in many ways to say the LG OLED B8.

No Dolby vision is the reason why I'm avoiding Samsungs
Does this have the one connect?
jamiesmith8519 m ago

No only 7 series and 9 series

I have the Q8FN and it has one connect so that's not true
jamiesmith8508/03/2019 11:32

What you should say is... The Q8FN has one connect but not backlit, the Q8DN has backlit but not one connect and you also can't use the no gap wall mounts on the Q8DN
Will Samsung give a free S10 next week, when the S9 offer expires?

Most probably not. Even if they did, it will be with their 2019 qled tv line up. q60r, q70r ,q80r ,q90r ,q950r

They have to dump the 2018 range first.
This television is £1549 at Co-op, with the S9 (£100 discount code). So, this meets the £1199 price point as the phone could be sold for £350.

But, there is only a one year warranty, so pointless to buy. JL will not price match Co-op.

🤪
Make sure this thing can record before you buy I've got an earlier Samsung J series TV and recording to USB hard drive sucks big time, unfortunately I only realised this after warranty had expired. Common fault on earlier models with no resolution that I could find. Despite numerous factory resets via engineers mode still records only when it can be bothered too...
Hopefully thi has been fixed in newer models?!

Just to note that the next model up - the Q9FN is better in many ways than OLED and the new Q90R is better in pretty much everyway than an OLED.

The Q9FN has inferior viewing angles, inferior grey uniformity, inferior response times and the user interface is not as refined as the LG b8. The cost of the Q9FN is also much more than the LG B8 i might add. You are correct though , the Q9FN is better in many ways than the LG OLED, just as the LG B8 is better in many ways than the Q9FN.

And how does the Q90R compare to the approx. £1500 pricetag of the 65" B8 OLED ? Sounds like a different market altogether with this model.
Also worthy of note is that the Q90r has only just become available to pre-order from today for those with very deep pockets I might add.

Well a quick check says a £4999 for the 75" which is actually less than the 75" Q9FN was new at £5399. But it is the best 4K screen on the market by miles. Going to order the 75" at the first opportunity for a deal.

And just to comment on your other subsequent update on response times is not correct. The Q9FN has a latency of about 16ms in gaming mode (which has automatic console detection unlike OLEDs) and down to as low 6.8ms when using Freesync 2. OLED can't get close to that and doesn't have freesync 2 support.

As I said the Q9FN is the best overall 4K screen for HDR and gaming currently shipping.
