What exactly is 8K resolution? It’s super high-resolution that’s 4 times higher than 4K UHD and 16 times higher than FHD. With more than 33 million pixels, Samsung QLED 8K Q900R gives you an amazing pixel-less viewing experience. It's real 8K resolution.

  • Breathtaking 33-million pixel resolution
  • Feel the deeper depth
  • Watch a bigger reality
  • 8K AI Upscaling
  • Quantum Processor 8K

I'll hold off until 16k comes out. 😁
Although good price. This set was probably £4-6k when it came out
Edited by: "satty83" 11th Sep
But is it 8k that will be out of date for actual 8k content? Like early 4k sets that did not have hdr
Never heard of these guys?
Can always connect your pc and just look at your desktop in 8k by changing the setting in Nvidia control panel that’s if you don’t already need some sort of expensive 8k compatible hdmi cable. Minesweeper in 8k woohoo

Be nice if the TV package providers didn't still treat HD as an optional extra, as if it was still 2006.
Is it only me who is trying to engineer a reason to spend £2k on a totally useless product?

Just kid yourself that it's future proof (obviously knowing full well you will want to replace it in 5 years with something better )
By the time the uk gets 8k broadcasts, this tv will have died anyway. Waste of money, just buy 4k for now
I agree with all the comments on here about the lack of 4k content and no need for this TV because of this BUT doesn't this TV upscale 4k to 8k and does it very well ? Not saying it will be perfect 8k but it will be better than your 4k tv at around this price ?
It's a great price so heat from me.
I bought the 75 inch version and sent back in favour of my 65b8 oled

Samsung are upgrading the one connect box to hdmi 2.1 with these now. An engineer with come to change the box
My 4k doesn't upscale my TV channels. So when they say upscaled to 8k, 4k what does it exactly upscale blu rays?
Really the 8k bit doesn't even matter. A 65" Q9 series for 2k is a good price.
The fact that the vast majority of TV channels STILL don't even broadcast in HD (1080i or 1080p) is the real scandal.

Maybe by 2050 8K will be the standard, so save up til then if I were you.
Edited by: "bushmaster80" 12th Sep
Pretty sure these support freesync too so will be good for a gaming monitor. Or with the xbox one x. Its only got a limited variable refresh rate though
Truth is you are not buying this for a 8k panel but for 8k processing. Planned obsolescence anyone?
To elaborate...from 10 feet away you will not notice difference between 4k and 8k. On any domestic sized screen. So what you are paying foe is enhanced picture processing. Which the companies could put in their 4k sets. Which they probably do for their high end 4k sets

Upscaling just means stretching the picture across the whole of the TV screen, rather than displaying it just using the central 1920x1080 or 3840x2160 pixels surrounded by black. Every TV on the market upscales.

No, this has very powerful image processors that use clever interpolation algorithms to upgrade the actual image resolution to 8K. Upscaled 8K is not as good as native 8K but it looks better than 4K. Read the reviews of it.

Exactly, glad someone here knows what they are talking about, sick of reading no 4k content no 8k content out blah blah, these tvs will give you upscaled 4k/8k content on anything you watch, so a better picture!

Like digital zoom on a camera - not all that, it can only work with the source material, the Samsung marketing team have reeled you in once again.

OLEDs can't match QLED for HDR. ~1000 Nits versus > 3500 Nits.

Yes. It's important you pick a side and in QLED/OLED war. You shout it out, mate. You're changing hearts and minds.

Keep up your important work. Your OLED loyalty will be rewarded. The OLED overlords will make you a king after the QLED scum are defeated!

It really, really matters.

So basically you've gone with the 'safe', inferior LCD option because OLED scares you? I pity you guys, wasting your hard earned on inferior junk because you're worried to death.

Neither. I'm 50/50 on either the C9 or Q90. Atm the C9 is edging it on price and I'm liking the Nvidia gsync update for my PC. Both are awesome TVs. Which ever I buy I won't be on a deals site rubbishing the other like some kind of TV tech religious zealot because that would make me look like an idiot.

You'll almost certainly end up with the LCD, most ditherers do
8K, why bother as 16k is round the corner for the select few.

Actually Samsung are addressing many of the problems of OLED such as burn in and poor brightness by using QLED technology to create hybrid screens with single colour OLED backlights but QLED pixels.

I have owned both and for HDR movies and gaming QLED > OLED.

Certainly QLED is safer:

Poor brightness? I actually had to turn the brightness settings down on my LG OLED. OLED is miles better quality picture.
