Don't be silly, of course it is. Here's me watching mine and I can tell the difference.

So Samsung in Switzerland are doing 25% off on the 2019 85" model. £10k in UK and £5.9 in Swiss after cashback

Called up Samsung UK, warranty will be honoured - problem is can't drive to collect and shipping will cost 3-4k euros (looked around)

But googling reviews etc, not too impressed with so many things about it. Lack of arc, no firmware updates promised to improve what's required, ambient lighting can't be turned off so dark to light scenes just jump in brightness which is a nightmare, only 1 usb is 2.1 - few other things - like no 8k content to say the least, power rating is D, fans in the TV are loud in 2018 model - things we all overlook as mesmirised by screen and Res. 2018 model also is only 30 FPS whereas 2019 is 60. The tech is out but far, far from mature.

I'll think I'll pass as 8k will drop in price, tech will get better and hopefully there will be content out by then - don't care abt upscaling 4k to 8k BS - Linus is good but he's not paying for that screen so I'll be saying favourable things to if I was given the TV

It upscales to 8K and watch Linus Techtips video on it - It’s incredible quality, especially on Forza Horizon 4. It’s this size and above that you actually see the difference.

Upscaling doesn't give more detail though. It just smooths and sharpens low res content. SD content "upscaled" to 1080p still looks like SD.
.......I still see ads on TV which are 480p and 4:3...so 8K now.....nah...
What can I say guys, it’s new technology at a somewhat obtainable price. Engage 2nd gear in your heads and work out if it’s right for you. I’d say it’s a good purchase if you have a GPU that can display the native resolution and there are benefits. It’s likely content will increase as they want to sell their products and content will be quicker to the table than with 4K I’d imagine. Still, I’m no expert!

Who nose if you can....
It’s all about the Pixel Per Inch, 8k makes no sense on normal size TV where 4K is just fine. 8k on a 55 or 65in tv is a waste but on 75 or 85 in it starts to make more sense because the pixels are being spread out across more surface.

Linus would beg to differ since he set it up and was literally a couple feet from the TV. You can even see the condensation on the cars. Yes, I agree it’s a “fad” at the moment, but hey... £2800 for a competent 4K TV with the bonus of 8K. I’m buying one, ready for the new consoles!
Processed "8k" tvs and not native

WTF Energy rating: D

Looool

Definitely be paying alot more then £2.8k for this tv

I'm not saying it's not a good TV. I'm saying that 8K is a gimmick on any TV size 65" and below. HDR makes more difference than resolution on 4K content, compared to 1080p.

I think it's too early to be spending huge amounts of money on a TV right now just to future proof. Why not wait 5 years when 8K content might actually be available, and the TV's considerably cheaper.

Doesn't a 4K OLED TV make much more sense to buy in 2019?

It's not a gimmick at all I have seem one first person and with 3000 nits you can keep an OLED
From Samsungs terms and conditions for this unit. Not really future proof I guess.

"Based on current 8K connectivity and decoding standards. May not support future connectivity, broadcasting, and decoding standards. Upgrade for meeting future standards may require purchase of an additional device or devices.2) Will provide complimentary upgrade for HDMI 2.1 support when available. Please contact customer support for more details.3) May not support certain 3rd party standards"
Its nice to see this TV exists. Definitely not for me but i hope to upgrade to a 85" 8K TV when theyre under a grand in a few years time.
Almost 3x price of other 65" FALD.
Almost double OLED prices.

I wonder if the premium is worth it.
My view is, no.

Is there a £1000 cashback from Samsung yet?

Link to 65" fald tv for £1000??
Until Samsung adopt Dolby Vision I’m out.
I have Sky Sports HD and Sky Cinema HD from Virgin. Really disappointed with the picture quality.

Picture looks SD and at worst like an illegal stream.

How to translate marketing speak to English:
1.) "may" == definitely will
2.) "may not" == absolutely won't
3) "will" == when available
4.) "when available" == never
5.) "could" == won't
6.) "some" == none
Handy for Civ VI and Visual Studio, I guess?
Waiting for 16K.
I’d rather a bowl of special K! Show me 16k VR and Im buying an IV and going off grid!
Any good deals on a 55 inc good 8k tv?
FYI if you have Perks at Work, they have a Samsung offer where the 2018 q900 65" is £1,800 and the 75" is £2,700. I just picked up a 65"

I just got the 65".... The sell involved me literally signing a written piece of paper that I would not talk about a new TV for the next 3 years (and no purchase for 4 years), it was the constant talking about a new TV that drove my wife crazy.

It was worth it!
