I got the 65" Q9 awesome tv

Same question as daz_75. Is this worth the extra over the LG B8?

It really depends on your usage jazz. If you are a gamer and leave lots of static logos on the screen for hours on end then yes. If you watch just TV and don't game then it's the B8.

I was in currys at the weekend and they had a OLED next to a QLED showing a clip of a film. The HDR highlights looked better on the QLED when face on. As soon as you went off axis, the colours washed out. There was also a Rakuten white logo on a black screen. The white on the QLED was so dull compared to the OLED even face on.

What I took from this is that when it's got the right material in the perfect conditions, QLED can be great. On the other hand, there are still many flaws that Samsung are having to try to solve. What great about OLED is that you can turn off every single processing and motion setting and it still look great all of the time, no matter what angle you are viewing from.

Don't trust me, or the reviews, just trust your own eyes. I also recommend watching for at least 1 hour. I find with LED, my eyes feel tired due to excess of light being shined into my eyes to achieve the contrast.
Got this a week or so ago and it's a great TV, noticeable improvement over the XF9005 it was replacing.

At this price, and with the freebie, superb.

How many carrots is this gold?
I bought a LG B8 recently for an excellent price, otherwise I would be buying this right now. (I'm happy with B8 but I wish the depth was smaller).
How much is hdmi alone ?
Do they have this in a 65 inch?

Gutted cheers buddy.
Adding in as an FYI for all - I have purchased today and can verify working and active
I wish this was an insane deal on the 65 inch.
65 inch at £1799 with the free 4K Player and I would probably have to bite.

At the same time apparently the Q90R from the 2019 range is a notable jump up from even this one, fixing almost all crticisms.
Just have to wait another year to get that one at a reasonable price...

Not the case apparently. Q90R is a great set but doesn’t fix all problems. Colour volume and gamut is worse than Q9FN. Contrast ratio is worse due to the wide angle viewing filter. Also has some issues with delayed zone dimming in game mode. At this price, the Q9FN is possibly a better deal right now

I brought the Q9FN with the Note 9 free for £1779 last December & it still appears to be the top buy with a top phone thanks to a deal found on hotukdeals.com/.
Many thanks to all contributers.

Good tv deal. RGB are an awful company to deal with. Look up their reviews on reviews.co.uk

Thanks Masteryates. Food for thought. Now the deal has expired the Q9 is off the table anyway.

Depends on what you are looking for and your own circumstances. For me, the reason I would go for the Q9 relates to the depth on the wall. The B8 screen is so thin but it sits far away from the wall because of the components. In fact, if you have aerial or satellite cable going into the device, the device could not sit flat to the wall even if you found a totally flat mount (I have right angled cables). The device with mount sits 10cm away from the wall. For comparison, the Samsung Frame sits less than 5cm from wall and the Q9 around 4cm). I also think the thinness of the screen makes the B8 appear that it sticks out more than it really is. I'm probably going to spend more than £350 making adjustments to the wall to get a more flush look.

There's lots I really like about the B8 - the physical device looks great front on, the picture quality is fantastic (clear without having to be bright or oversaturated), I like the interface and the remote (which surprised me). I read lots of comments about not using OLED in a bright room but this hasn't been an issue for me (I don't have any blinds or curtains in my lounge).

Apart from how the device sits on a wall, there are only a couple of things I don't like - but neither would be dealbreakers. The first is relates to sync issues with my soundbar (known issue). It's not horrendous but noticeable and should be something that LG could have fixed by now. The TV speakers are ok but not great – I suspect for most people who don't use soundbars will be happy with the TV speakers. The second niggle relates to the screensaver on static images. This is a great feature to protect the screen but it doesn't work with some input sources. An example is BT Youview which for some reason has a static screen at the end of the programme telling the programme has finished. It's so easy to walk away to take a call and forget you're watching a recording. This is something BT Youview could change but I'm not sure why the LG device doesn't pick up that the device picture isn't changing.

In summary - if I wasn't wall mounting the screen, I would absolutely go for the B8 again. The pros outweigh the other cons, the device costs less and I think it's got more pros than the Q9. If you're wondering why I didn't choose the Q9 first, it's because I really don't like the user interface. At the time of purchase, the B8 was £700 cheaper than the Q9 and I was keen to get an OLED as never had one. I don't regret buying the B8. I'm having the house refurbished so I might just get the W8 look for a lot less!

Thanks for the reply. I've got a big articulated arm for the tv so the depth isn't something I'm bothered about

My main concern is motion I saw the Q6 and it looked terrible to my eyes. Will this be any different?

I haven't spotted any motion issues on the LG B8. By Q6, are you referring to the Samsung Q6 and whether Samsung Q9 will be different? If so, it might be best to check AV Forums to see if others have reported issues.

Definitely check out AV Forums. I suspect the Q9 is fine for motion as top of the 2018 range (excluding the 8K model) but worth checking.
Seems the free blue ray player isn't included anymore

Was thinking about the XF9005 as XG is double the price, was something wrong with it or you have too much spare cash?

Serious question as I thought XF was top end LED with FALD and Q9 is top QLED so wondered why upgrade on such a new TV

I have this TV. It's amazing but after a few months I have noticed that I get screen tear on gaming mainly and other uses. It is to do with motion settings. When I set judder reduction past 3 (highest being 10) there is a lot of screen tear and judder on both movies and games. Has anyone experienced this?

Daughter broke it. Twice. Decided I could justify the upgrade and pleased I did.

XF was still a damn good set though.

Gold plated HDMI?

Good deal for the TV, but Gold Plated HDMI is just a way to get money out of people. Won't change your viewing experience in any way versus another modern HDMI cable.
I got the 65" for around this price after selling the Note 9 during the December offer. Great TV!
Whoever is pricing at Samsung is retarded as this year's version is £2800 for the 55!?

Who would buy this? You could screen burn 2 OLEDs and still buy a 3rd OLED.

Sales guys at Samsung wondering why this year's QLEDs aren't selling as well
