No personal experience of Samsung but I'm looking for a laptop at the moment and am advised by someone in the business that they are among the better makes. If my printer is anything to go by the service backup is brilliant!

Toshiba and Lenovo also rated very well.

Acer seem to have a poor reputation (don't know if that's justified or just brand snobbery).

There are some good reviews of this model. The one drawback for me is I personally don't like Windows Vista, but on the Samsng site it does say that anyone buying a Laptop from June - Jan will eligable for a Windows 7 upgrade (i'm making the assumption it's free!!).

samsung.com/uk/…in7

This just swings it for me.

Check the terms of the 'free' upgrade: £25 P&P is not unusual! You also have the hassle of loading it, plus drivers, etc.

Windows 7 seems good though - think I'll wait until it's available pre-loaded.

Not bad, shame it's out of stock now.

no its not, i just bought one, tried earlier and refused payment twice on third try basket price went to 5.89, credit card company called me to ask if anything suspicious was going on as payments had been stopped, explained and they said all was ok to try again.

just did and went thru ok inc discount, where is best place for extra ram?
