nice machine... shame it doesnt have 1080p screen and bluray tho

Looks like this is a new model for the UK, remember watching a video review of this by someone in the US a while ago but wasn't possible to buy here. Price seems good for the i5. I briefly owned the i3 version before sending back as didn't meet my needs, happy to answer any questions on the laptop...

I agree, blu ray has been out quite a while now and I'm a little supprised that most laptop still don't give you the options to upgrade.

Shame a Ford Focus doesn't have a Ferrari engine aswell.....

I'm not sure how you can compare blu ray technology to a Ferrari, give it another 12 months and most houses will probably have HD/bluray technology in them.....

but one thing I'm pretty sure of is that not every house will have a Ferrari parked outside. Unless the government decides to scrap tax on fuel.... :-D

This looks like a good deal to me but would be interested in any expert opinion. I'm very happy with the r519 I bought (thanks to the tips here) and samsung seem to have got their skates on bringing reasonably and competitively priced combinations quickly to the market.

After a very cursory inspection on amazon, all the 580s are more expensive, and most of them are sporting the not-so zippy i3.

Easily, if you want more features then pay more, it's stupid to say well … Easily, if you want more features then pay more, it's stupid to say well it doesn't have x, x and x, and expect it for the same price.

I've just read through the posts and I can't see anyone making a comment about getting different componants for the same price?? so I'm not sure who you are calling stupid.

My comment again......... "it's a shame they don't give you the options to upgrade"

The actual laptop itself has a cracking spec and in my opinion an attractive price and have already voted hot.

I suspect that Samsungs off-the-peg approach is the reason for good pricing here. Although worldwide, they seem to offer a hell of a lot of variants, these are still knocked out in huge numbers and those of us who don't mind settling on a few comprises will reap the benefit.

Still worth the post though:thumbsup: I have known Play.com to honour mis prices from time to time.

I retract everything I said about Samsung's benevolent pricing (although still happy with the 519 I bought) - this has turned into a run-of-the-mill deal.

Pity...
