Samsung R60+. We ordered this yesterday for free collection from our local store tomorrow.

Note - not the normal spec for this budget machine. Looks like Tesco might have an exclusive here.

I was looking to buy a Dell after seeing MikeT's posts but I couldn't get a spec to match on a 15" screen model for anything like this price. (Gaming graphics weren't needed).

Pretty cool reception so far. Not too sure why. This is a Samsung after all so pretty high build quality. Not many reviews out there as it's a new model. This review is for a lower spec R60*:

I looked again at the Dell Vostro 1500 (N1015002).

MikeT's latest

The Dell has the advantage of the 8400 Graphics card, but comes with Vista Business or XP Pro unless you pay upgrade to Vista Ultimate, and you don't get the Samsung's looks. You may also face a wait for delivery from Dell.

So I still think it's a decent alternative to the Dell and nothing else I've seen comes close. Hopefully I won't change my opinion when I collect it.

*T5450 > T2450, despite the clock speed, 2Gb of RAM pretty essential for Vista.

Hiya,

I've been looking at purchasing the Samsung R60+ laptop from Tesco but decided to do a search on Google just to check the spec and any reviews.

I've noticed that on a lot of sites that came up they all seem to be saying it only has 1GB of RAM but in the Tesco Direct Catalogue it says 2GB.

Was wondering if you could just confirm that it is 2GB please!?

If it is, I'm ordering it! :-)

Many thanks,

JammyC

- hmm ... decided to go for the Sony Vaio NR11Z/S £587.00 from Costco !! Hope I made an OK choice, I'm not really up on all the computer malarkey :-)

Hey JammyC, i was just wondering what the Sony Vaio NR11Z/S is like? i also am looking at this laptop as it seems very good value, concedering the spec, plus its a sony! Im looking at the silver colour or the wenge, they both equally look very good.

Also Is this laptop heavy or thick? im looking for something cheap and portable for university...thanks!!!
